Try Putting The Lights Out!

How much income is being lost to the industry by this poor attitude?

Funny-cat

On Saturday, I had a bad run of luck on my Tabgold TeleBet account which was depleted at about 17h00, writes a P#@sed off Punter/Breeder/Owner

I made a deposit at 17h54 in order to enjoy the great racing on Tellytrack all evening, culminating in the running of the Belmont Stakes.

At 19h30 it still did not reflect and so I called Tabgold Telebet and was told that Admin staff go home at 18h00 and no further deposits would be reflected until they open up the next morning.

This is a disgrace, as my deposit was made before 18h00 and as it is FNB to FNB should be direct, but was obviously not recorded before closing.

But closing should not be an option, when they offer betting on racing well into the night. I feel sure many others would like to top up if they need to. All it would take is one person to check incoming deposits and credit them to punters telebet accounts for use.

How much income is being lost to the industry by this poor attitude?

As a breeder and owner I know that our stakes rely on a % of stakes turnover. So how much is the loss to the stakes pool due to this serious mismanagement of the betting accounts.

Some of us rely on the market movement in tote turnover, and others are obviously comfortable with a salary, and to hell with the other stake holders. We punters (Tote turnover) pay that salary.

Certainly a point to ponder!!

The response:

Gold Circle: ‘Operational Costs A Factor’

Gold Circle logoGold Circle wishes to apologise to the customer concerned for the fact that they were unable to transact against their account on Saturday, writes Patrick Loker, Commercial Executive.

However, without having the customer account details it is difficult to investigate the matter completely. Even though the transfer was FNB to FNB, there are instances totally beyond the control of Gold Circle, when funds transferred do not reflect in the Gold Circle account immediately they are done by the customer. Gold Circle has opened an account at each of the four major banks to overcome the interbank transfer delays that normally occur and to provide better customer service.

The procedure at TeleBet is for all four bank accounts to be checked and cleared prior to closing to ensure that all deposits are credited to the respective TeleBet accounts. Without the account details we are unable to determine the exact time the transfer reflected in Gold Circle’s bank account.

As in all business there is a need to staff according to demand.

Gold Circle’s admin department closes at either 6pm for local day meetings or 8pm for local night meetings. Operational hours are communicated to all customers in the welcome letter sent to every new account holder.

Because of the need to access bank accounts and the controls around the movement of funds the company has to ensure that responsible staff members are on duty to perform these tasks. Unfortunately because of the extended hours of racing and the low number of funds transfers that occur in the evening, it is not practical to provide this facility during all the racing hours without impacting the costs of operation.

While it is true that turnover is a vital component of our business, Gold Circle also has to ensure that costs are minimised in order to provide an operational profit that is used to fund the sport of horseracing for the stakeholders.

Once again Gold Circle wishes to apologise to the account holder but, to believe that the company does not have the interests of stakeholders in mind, is an unjust accusation.

A perspective:

We asked Hollywoodbets.net about their operating hours

hollywoodYour enquiry regarding account deposit operating hours refers. We operate 24/7 for deposits, writes Devin Heffer.

We have a smaller team working from 21h00 to 06h00, but we still clear deposits throughout.

There will be a full team working from 06h00 to 21h00.
