Mauritius – Another SA Jock Gets The Door

Piere Strydom's successor finds it tough

The Mauritius Turf Club have reported that South African jockey Diego de Gouveia is no longer a stable rider to the powerful Rameshwar Gujadhur yard.

It is not known if this was by mutual agreement.

The 2019 Cape Derby winning rider replaced Piere Strydom at the end of August.

In 46 rides, he rode 3 winners and 14 places.

Like dual SA champion Lyle Hewitson, Diego came through the tough school of the workrider ranks. He rode for a year in Zimbabwe and attended the British Racing School in 2016.
