Zoustar Colts Tops Final Day

Rewarding week of trade

South African registered buyers spent A$690 000 in total as the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale concluded with Book II on Wednesday, wrapping up a rewarding week of trade.

Jehan Malherbe – Form Bloodstock was the top SA buyer

Book II ended with an average of A$39,540 through a clearance rate of 74%, grossing A$5,417,000.

Today’s top Lot was a Zoustar x Belle Of The City colt (Lot 659), which Hawkes Racing bought from the Maluka Thoroughbreds draft for A$150,000.

“The first day we saw him we liked him,’’ Wayne Hawkes said.

“We thought he was good value.’’

The next sale on the Inglis calendar is the Autumn Thoroughbred Sale at Oaklands Junction on Sunday March 18, a mixed sale for which 152 horses have been catalogued.

Jehan Malherbe’s Cape Town-based Form Bloodstock bought two Lots totalling A$480,000;

World-Wide Bloodstock secured a pair for A$130,000 and Hong-Kong based trainer Tony Millard, registered as a South African buyer, took home one lot for A$80,000.
