South African jockey Ryan Munger will have to sit out the next eleven days after being suspended for careless riding at Kranji on Saturday. He only arrived in Singapore last month to take up a year contract and has had 17 rides.
Three other jockeys were suspended at the same meeting.
The Stipes reported that Munger, the rider of Broadway Success in the tenth race, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 700m he permitted his mount to shift inwards to a point where he left insufficient racing room for the runners to his inside. As a result, High Limit (I Saifudin) had to be checked and Billy Mojo (App N Zyrul) was tightened for room.
When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions Jockey Munger that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 07 February 2020 and Sunday, 09 February 2020.
Jockey Munger was suspended from riding in races with effect from Monday, 10 February 2020 to Friday, 21 February both dates inclusive (three Singapore Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.
