Interference: Brandon Lerena Suspended

Has a right of appeal against finding and penalty

At an Inquiry held in Durban on Friday, 1 June 2018, Jockey B Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

Brandon Lerena – suspended

This arose in that as the rider of SIR BERNADINI (AUS), he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to SYLVESTER THE CAT when shifting inwards near the 1400 metre mark in the 3rd Race at Scottsville Racecourse on 26 May 2018.

Jockey B Lerena pleaded not guilty to the charge.  However, the Board, after considering the evidence, found Jockey Lerena guilty and imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days.

Jockey Lerena has the right of appeal against the finding and penalty imposed.
