NHA: Zaki Guilty

Mr Zaki pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty of the charge

National Horseracing AuthorityThe National Horseracing Authority confirms that an Inquiry was held at its Head Office at Turffontein Racecourse, on Friday 16 October 2015.

Mr Dominic Zaki was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that he was the person responsible for the horse SHEIK’S DIAMOND at the time when a specimen (A52615) taken from that horse, was found to contain the prohibited substance Prednisolone 21-hemisuccinate, a prohibited substance in terms of Rule 73.4.

SHEIK’S DIAMOND participated in and won the 1st race at Turffontein Racecourse on 2 August 2015.

Mr Zaki pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty of the charge.

After considering all the facts relevant to this matter, the Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R40 000-00, of which R10 000-00 is wholly suspended for a period of 1 (one) year.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 SHEIK’S DIAMOND is disqualified from the 1st race run at the Turffontein Racecourse on 2 August 2015 and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.
