The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 27 September 2018, Trainer Mr L W Goosen was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4.

Louis Goosen – fined

This arose in that as the trainer of the horse CAPTAIN’S GIRL from which a urine specimen was taken after it had participated and finished second in Race 7 at the Greyville Racecourse on 18 April 2018, disclosed upon analysis the presence of Clanobutin, a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of the NHA.

Mr Goosen pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.

After considering all the evidence, the mitigating factors and the class of the substance, the Board imposed a fine of R15 000.  In addition, a suspended fine of R17 000, which was imposed by an Inquiry Board on 26 October 2016 becomes effective.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 CAPTAIN’S GIRL is disqualified from the Race and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 pertaining to stake monies shall apply.
