Trainer Brett Crawford saddles Ihla Da Mauricia in Race 5. She showed very good improvement when stepping up to the 1600m last time. She raced from a handy position, moved up well but was outrun late by Saartjie.

The daughter of Silvano is a progressive type and should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. She jumps from a good draw of four and can go one better.

Veronique from the Greg Ennion stable may be the horse to close off the meeting. She stayed on nicely when third over this course and distance last time. She jumps from a much better draw of five this afternoon.

JP van der Merwe knows her well and in similar company, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
