Black Friday Blow For Sheriff Fans

Another 3 winners for Greeff and Cheyne

Popular 7yo Gogettesheriff failed to live up to the Black Friday value mania that swept South Africa when he walked out of the starting stalls and ran stone last in the R110 000 November Stakes at Fairview.

The 1400m polytrack feature only attracted a field of six runners and the big Jacques Strydom-trained chestnut started favourite after his last start course-and-distance score.

The historically delinquent starter caught punters short by losing many lengths at the start – and never getting into the race. With Stratocruiser stretching them out front, there was still hope that Gogettesheriff could do some catching up – but it’s difficult giving so much start over the extended sprint, and it was left to Callan Murray to produce the goods on Tara Laing’s Miracle Bureau.

Tara Laing – enjoying a good double

The former Joburg based gelding, who races in the Mayfair Speculators silks, has done well in his seven months in the Eastern Cape and powered home to register his second local win and give Tara Laing and Callan Murray the first leg of a winning double.

He beat the late finishing Our Icon by 3,50 lengths in a time of 82,43 secs, with Kingvoldt rounding off the trifecta a short head away in third.

Greg Cheyne – 7 winners for Alan Greeff in five days

The favourite Gogetthesheriff finished almost 15 lengths back. Put a line through this run but back him at your peril!

A R500 000 Cape Premier Yearling Sale Book 2 graduate, the Klawervlei Stud bred  Miracle Bureau is a son of Trippi (End Sweep) out of the six-time winner Blow Your Mind (National Emblem).

The 5yo is a winner of 5 races with 9 places from 22 starts and stakes of R388 725,

The leading combination on the day was Alan Greeff and Greg Cheyne who maintained their sparkling form with another 3 winners – to give them 7 first cheques in the space of five days.
