Oratorio’s 50 Up

Milestone for the son of Danehill

Avontuur sire Oratorio reached a significant landmark when his daughter Carlita landed Friday’s Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery.

Oratorio – proven performer

A thrilled Avontuur GM Pippa Mickleburgh said that the win was a significant milestone for the outstanding sire.

“The market has certainly sat up and taken notice. They are doing their talking where it counts most! His 2yo figures are exceptional – more so, given the fact that we expect him to go on and produce the classics and Met and July winners of tomorrow! Even our proven champion Var is feeling the Oratorio pressure right now! Competition is good – we love it!” said Pippa, who confirmed that her drafts for the April sales were ‘exceptional’.

Carlita’s first feature race win provided Oratorio with his 50th individual black type winner and she looks capable of building on this Listed triumph.

Carlita  – looks smart

Carlita, runner up in the Listed Tattersalls Summer Juvenile Stakes on just her second racecourse appearance, has now won three of her four starts to date, having romped to a 8.25 length win on debut.

Bred by the Piemonte Stud, the filly was a bargain R35 000 buy from the 2017 Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale.

Carlita, who could take her place in the Gr1 Allan Robertson Championship later this season, was produced by the placed Point Given mare Auburn Annio.

A dual Champion Sire in Italy, former European champion Oratorio has a total of 50 stakes winners and another 40 black type placed runners to his name.

Oratorio was a top class racehorse

The son of Danehill has another crop of smart looking two-year-olds to his name this season, with Oratorio’s juveniles this season including not only Carlita but also impressive debut winner Petra and feature race contender Van Halen.

Oratorio’s 14 strong draft at the 2018 April Yearling Sale includes a colt out of Gr2 Sceptre Stakes winner Reflective Image (Lot 29) and a filly out of Silvano’s Gr2 Camellia Stakes winner Mocachino (Lot 134).

The triple Gr1 winner’s 22 strong draft at next month’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale is also potent and includes a half-brother to smart filly She’s A Giver (Lot 62), a half-brother to star fillies Live Life and Cold As Ice (Lot 69), a filly out of Jet Master’s Gr1 winning daughter All Afire (Lot 85) and a half-sister to Equus Champion Lady In Black (Lot214).
