Barahin Now Has His Allies

Charity is the big winner

Mike de Kock’s Barahin stormed to victory in Saturday’s R1 million Peermont Emperors Palace Gr2 Charity Mile at Turffontein and booked himself a berth in the forthcoming Summer Cup.

Each of the Charity Mile runners were partnered with a charity and celebrity – sadly for those linked to Divine Odyssey, they never got a run as the son of Oratorio was withdrawn at the start after putting his legs over the gates.

The charity who drew Barahin and will win the R150 000 first prize is Animal Allies who was represented by 7de Laan star Hildegardt Whites.

Director of the organisation, Desire Friedland explained their aim is to help abused, abandoned and suffering animals who desperately need help.

“We have realised the only way to end this is through education and sterilization.

“By focusing on these we are hoping to decrease the amount of suffering, unwanted animals and subsequently reduce the euthanasia rate.”
