Witch-hunt or willingness to open consultation process?

Piere strydomThe National Horseracing Authority have reported that an Inquiry will be opened into the comments made by Jockey Piere Strydom during the post race interview on Tellytrack following his winning ride on Special Announce at the Vaal on Tuesday.

While we will not pre-empt the outcome of the enquiry, it is hoped that there will be some positives to flow from Strydom’s refreshing willingness to speak his mind.

Consultation with senior jockeys and trainers on matters that directly affect the safety of horse and rider is a basic tenet that needs to be adopted by both the National Horseracing Authority and the racing operators.
