Pocket Power relatives and Jet Master

2012 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale

Two close relatives of South African legend, Pocket Power, are on offer at the 2012 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. “Pocket”, as the champion was lovingly known, was a triple Horse of the Year, whose racing exploits captured the imagination of the South African public as few racehorses ever have. Pocket Power himself was a R190 000 buy at the 2004 Cape Yearling Sale, and during his career he earned over R9 million in prize money! He won the prestigious L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate on four occasions, and Pocket also took the J&B Met three years in a row.

Pocket was, without question, one of the greatest horses ever sold by the TBA, and is a true legend of the turf.

Now, it is the turn of his young relatives to take their turn in the spotlight.

Nutfield Stud consign the blueblooded colt, Eternal Jet. Selling as lot 420, the colt is out of brilliant racemare Easyjadeasy – a half-sister to Equus champion and young sire, Elusive Fort. This is the wonderful Argentinian “E” family responsible for such champions as Ecurie and Empress Club.

Stratocruiser sell as lot 460, and is the last Jet Master colt on the 2012 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. This colt is consigned by Klipdrif Stud, as agent. The colt is an own brother to the G1 winning filly, Stratos, and is from the family of July winner and champion, Space Walk.

The final Jet Master filly on offer at the 2012 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale is lot 466. Consigned by Klipdrif Stud, this is a filly with a lot of paddock value. Well named Gogreaselightning, the filly is a three parts sister to champion South African, and top international, sprinter J J The Jet Plane. She is also a close relation of recent G3 King’s Cup winner, Jet Legend.

South Africa’s greatest ever sire sadly passed away last year and time is running out to acquire Jet Master’s last remaining progeny.  No doubt, among the horses lurking is another top-class Jet Master waiting to take the world by storm!
