A Fleet Of Ferrari’s

"Our research gave us the confidence to take him on!"

Cosmic Light

Cosmic Light (by Querari) wins impressively on debut under Muzi Yeni

Mike Azzie coined the phrase “Querari The Ferrari” when Spring Wonder (bred by Maine Chance Farms) became her sire’s first winner, writes John Freeman in his eNews this week.

Mike’s phrase has caught on in our office and has enjoyed good airtime this week with 3 more winners in the last four days.

Appropriately one of these new winners Melliflora (Maine Chance) is also trained by Michael, so we were happy to give him credit for the war cry once again.

Querari’s most recent winner is the Duncan Howells trained Cosmic Light (also Maine Chance Farms bred) who won first time out at Scottsville over 1200m today by two lengths. Her win steps up the rivalry between Querari, Visionaire and Warm White Night in the freshman sire championship this season.

Rose and Ashley Parker’s one-eyed speedster Dynamic Speed won again last Friday and now has 2 wins from 4 starts with stakes places in both of his other runs.

The other two-time winner in Querari’s arsenal is Archar Head’s Champery who won her first two starts and is making a comeback from an injury she sustained in the listed Perfect Promise Stakes in her 3rd start. “Wait ‘till she wins the million dollar” such is the confidence of the filly’s owner.

A record nineteen new sires retired to stud in 2011 – it’s going to be interesting to see how they develop.

We took over the management of Querari as our only stallion in that group before he had his first runner. Our research gave us the confidence to take him on and we are very happy we did. As they say in the classics – watch this space!

Cosmic Light is a R200 000 National Yearling Sale graduate. She is out of the Silvano mare Cosmic Dream.
