Yvette Bremner’s smart Lecture gelding Pacyano showed that ridden correctly, he can pace it with the best of his age in the Eastern Cape. The Danika Stud-bred 3yo bounced back to best with a smooth win in the R75 000 Racing Association Plate run over the Fairview polytrack 1400m on Friday.

With her  one stablemate Blast playing up and refusing to load, the non black-type 1400m race ended a lot better than it started for Yvette Bremner, who owns and trains Pacyano.

Jockey Muzi Yeni always had Pacyano in the lead and he powered on to win easily at 4 to 1 by 2,25 lengths in a time of 83,31 secs.

He beat the Snaith favourite Arniston, who went off at 13 to 10 and stayed on strongly, ahead of the Mike Bass Cape raider Pigeon Flyer.

Frederick Fox disappointed and finished 6,50 lengths away and out of the money.

With trainer Yvette Bremner attending the CTS Lanzerac Ready To Run Sale, assistant Carl Hewitson saddled the winner:

“Pacyano has a huge long action and he finds on top of it. He is a special little horse. Even though he looks like a greyhound. And we couldn’t fatten him up even if we wanted to.And a big well done to Yvette!” he said.

Jockey Muzi Yeni was thrilled with the win and said that he had erred last time.

“I was out of the gates too quickly last time. This time it went well.”

Pacyano registered his fourth win with 3 places from 9 starts and took his stakes earnings to R197 750.

He was bred by Danika Stud and is by ecture out of the four-time winning Fine Edge mare Camberwell Beauty, who was trained by Mike Bass during her racing career.

The Stipes reported:

Blast was withdrawn at the start and his starting stall certificate was withdrawn.

Pigeon Flyer was cut into during the running.

Scuzami cast a shoe in running.

Seattle Saint returned coughing.

On the day, S’manga Khumalo rode a hat-trick, while Muzi Yeni banked a good double.

On the training front, Justin Snaith and Yvette Bremner saddled a winning double each.
