Racing Stars – Charl Plays His Natural Game To Win

The show moves to Vaal on Thursday

The man who wrote the text-book on how to punt on the horses put a dazzling winning performance together on Day 19 of the Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge Racing Stars at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday.

Veteran Charl Pretorius is one of the senior members of the 42 strong Racing Stars group and the seasoned racing man is also the author of the 2007 published ’10 Habits Of Highly Effective Horseplayers’.

The book is available on Amazon.

Talking to the Sporting Post after beating colleagues Neil Andrews and Craig Peters to register his second win in the competition that commenced on 1 April, Charl said that after finishing last at Turffontein on Tuesday he had a heart-to-heart chat with Neil Andrews.

“It’s uncanny that, less than 24 hours before we discussed the strategy of punting for a lengthy time, we run first and and second! We initially thought that we’d go with the fancied horses. But our brains are wired differently as ordinary punters. We want to find value and the hidden gems. The competition and the pressures that go with competing in an open league with colleagues might unwittingly have forced us to play an unnatural game,” said the man from Paternoster.

He added that it’s a great idea and full marks to Hollywoodbets.

“It has us all talking and many old ties and relationships have been rekindled. I am not going to sound too confident but I am already looking at the Vaal card for Thursday. That said, I also believe we are only as good as our last win!” he laughed.
