Bridge Misses July And Winter Derby

Rest for promising 3yo

Unbeaten boom horse Rainbow Bridge will not be supplemented into the Vodacom Durban July, or go for the third leg of the Cape Winter Series.

Tabnews reports that was the word from trainer Eric Sands at Kenilworth on Saturday.

The veteran conditioner said: “He has been getting rather hot on race days, and after discussions with owner Chris Gerber we feel he isn’t ready mentally to travel and go  for the July at this early stage. He is nearly four, but has led quite a sheltered life, and only made his racing debut less than two months ago.”

“We will give him a working holiday, and then he may go back to the farm for a while. He will come back to racing in October, and if things all go to plan we will be aiming him at the Queens Plate and Sun Met next year.”

A son of Ideal World, Rainbow Bridge won the first two legs of the Highlands Cape Winter Series in impressive style. He won hiis maiden over 1200m on debut and remains undefeated in three starts.
