Trainer Vaughan Marshall sends out Coastal Commander in Race 6. He was not disgraced when fourth in the SplashOut  Gr1 Cape Derby last time.

He finished second in his only attempt over this course and distance.

The son of Lancaster Bomber is the best weighted runner in this contest and if all goes according to plan, he should be the one to beat.

Gareth van Zyl is hopeful that Red Rackham will find himself in the winner’s enclosure this afternoon  (Pic – Chase Liebenberg)

Red Rackham from the Gareth van Zyl stable takes his place in Race 4.

He showed good improvement in his last start with the tongue-tie and ear muffs fitted.

He raced from a handy position but was outrun late. The son of William Longsword carries a light mass of 50.5kgs thanks to the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies.

With a bit of luck from his awkward draw of eight, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
