The retirement talk about the gutsy Canford Cliffs mare Princess Posh after her victory in the Gr3 Newmarket Handicap in March for trainer Kris Lees has proven premature.
The well-performed daughter of the Ridgemont Highlands sire added to her subsequent third in the Gr1 Coolmore Classic with a big effort in Saturday’s A$700 000 Gr1 Kingsford-Smith Cup at Eagle Farm.

On Saturday The Bostonian had three quarters of a length to spare over the outsider of the field, the gutsy mare Princess Posh, with the favourite Trekking running his usual honest race to fill third spot.
The Bostonian is now undefeated from five starts in The Sunshine State after registering a hat trick as a three year old during the 2018 Queensland Winter Carnival
A half-sister to two winners, the runner-up Princess Posh, a dual stakes winner, is out of the winning Viscount mare The Baroness who is a half-sister to Gr3 Millie Fox Stakes winner A Country Girl out of the dual Listed stakes-winner Verdict Declared.
Canford Cliffs is currently responsible for more than 26 stakes performers with his top runners including group winners Most Beautiful, Painted Cliffs, Al Jazi, Cliff’s Edge, the mentioned Princess Posh, and Princess Asta, as well as the dual Oaks placed Harlequeen.
Winner of all of the Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas, Gr1 St James’s Palace Stakes, Gr1 Sussex Stakes, Gr1 Lockinge Stakes and Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes, Canford Cliffs has enjoyed success in both hemispheres and has 26 black type performers to his credit.
He will stand his second season at Ridgemont Highlands for a live foal fee of R30.000.
