Johannesburg’s premier horse racing event, the Summer Cup and popular household brand SANSUI of the JD Group (licence holders of the SANSUI brand in South Africa) have confimed their 7th consecutive year of sponsorship.

The two iconic names will once again bring Johannesburg and its guests the memorable and entertainment sensation of the Gauteng SANSUI Summer Cup, to be hosted on the 28th of November 2015, at Turffontein Racecourse.

The prestigious equestrian and fashion affair is the City of Gold’s foremost horse race, with a legacy of entertaining the crowds and equine fans for over 128 years.

An event of this stature is a perfect fit for the SANSUI brand, a globally recognised consumer electronics brand which stands by the motto of ‘Live Entertained’ explains Chris Dirks Group Executive: Merchandise and Marketing of JD Group. “Our sponsorship with the Summer Cup is an appropriate fit not only due to our motto of ‘Live Entertained’ but because the event and our brand stand for the same values; quality, aspiration and credibility. The premium occasion is a unique union of the entertainment, sport and fashion industries in one powerful and exuberant event,” explains Dirks.

SANSUI offers a range of high quality products, which appeal to a diverse local market. With its strong global backing and worldwide acceptance in over 100 countries, it is no doubt a trusted and valued brand with which the Summer Cup is proud to be associated.

The long-standing partnership has ensured that, each year, newfound learnings are brought forward to certify that the event continues to improve and grow steadily. “We are delighted with the growth of the Gauteng SANSUI Summer Cup over the past 6 years and believe that the momentum will continue to drive this event to new heights for many years to come,” says Dirks. “It has been a pleasure to work with all involved partners, Gauteng, Phumelela Gaming and Megapro Holdings, and we look forward to what will undoubtedly be another memorable and fun-filled day at the races in November.”

The mutually beneficial partnership was initially formed and is still nurtured by sponsorship specialists Megapro Holdings – also now in their 7th year of sponsorship and event management for the racing occasion. Simon Franklin, Chief Operating Officer of Megapro Holdings is proud of their enduring commitment to both the event and its sponsors. “Having been involved in the success of one of SA’s biggest horse racing events for so long, we at Megapro are proud to have helped orchestrate the pairing. We have witnessed the glittering event grow in prominence as well as support over the past 6 years as a result,” says Franklin, “Once again, we are very pleased to bring two premium and reliable properties such as SANSUI and the much anticipated Summer Cup together.”

We are delighted that our relationship continues to grow and that we are always striving to meet each other’s objectives out of this fantastic sporting event, held in one of the greatest cities in Africa,” says Basel. “The teamwork that will roll out over the next few months between all stakeholders will no doubt result, as before, in the rush and excitement of a day at the races; an exhilarating and infectious affair,” he concludes.

With agreements concluded, the partners will now settle into the crucial planning months as fans can prepare for another high-paced event packed with glitz and glamour, elegant fashion festivities, thrilling entertainment  for all, as well as celebrity shine and of course the thunderous roar of the racing rush.
