KZN – Venue Change

Features to be run on turf

Following persistent rain in Pietermaritzburg, the race meeting scheduled for Scottsville on Sunday 22 April 2018 has been switched to Greyville.

The 3 feature races, The Highland Night Cup, The Scarlet Lady and The Sledgehammer will be run on Turf (weather permitting) and the balance of races run on the Polytrack.

Times will remain as carded.

Races 6 and 7 distance changed to 1800 and Race 8 distance changed to 2000m.

More than 195mm of rain was received in March and thus far 63.5mm in April.

The weather forecast suggests the sun will be out from Saturday, but clearly the turf track will need ideal weather conditions for it to dry sufficiently.

“With our major race days on the horizon, we are very mindful that we need to avoid causing excessive damage to the racing surfaces while at the same keeping the disruption to the planned racing programmes to an absolute minimum.” said Raf Sheik, Gold Circle Racing Executive.
