Tragedy hits Kimberley Racing

Kimberley trainer Sean Miller dies tragically

Sean Miller. Death shocks the sport in South Africa.

South African horseracing woke up today to the tragic news that one of its most promising young trainers had died tragically.

Just 23 years old, Sean Miller had already made his mark in the tough school of Northern Cape sand racing after being thrown into the deep end and taking over from his legendary father Peter who died suddenly from a heart attack shortly after being diagnosed with leaukemia.

Sean Miller died while out on a hunting trip.

Further details are not yet available.

Miller trained six winners at Kimberley on Monday 16 April, just a week before the first anniversary of his Dad’s passing on 23 April 2011.

Sean, who graduated from Diamantveld High School,  is survived by his mother Stephanie and his girlfriend Cornell Louw.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences are extended to all his family and friends.
