Set For Met

Weather looks perfect

The weather is expected to be mostly cloudy with a very reasonable maximum of 25 degrees for Sun Met day on Saturday.

Gates open 11h00 and the first race is off at 11h50.

The Met will be competing indirectly with the Cape Town 10’s rugby which is held over 2 Days in Green Point and includes 350 Teams and 4000 Players.

Cape Town 10’s is the brainchild of rugby legends Bob Skinstad and Robbie Fleck. Founded in 2008 and starting off as a rugby only tournament, the event has since evolved into a multi-sport event.

Over 25000  people are expected to attend the rugby with a weekend pass ticket costing R150 for students and R220 for adults.

The Stormers are also playing the Hurricanes at Newlands – kick off at 15h00, Tickets are sold out.

A leading Met jockey came out on social media yesterday to express his disappointment with the pricing of the Sun Met tickets.

He tweeted:

‘Your prices are ridiculous. Who can afford to pay these prices? Chasing the crowds away from this beautiful days Racing. Bet the 10’s don’t cost an arm and a leg!!! Should start catering for the students like it used to be.’

A general access Met ticket costs R200 and allows the holder entrance to the after party. There are other substantially more pricier options available though.
