Smanga & Heavy Metal
S’manga Khumalo and agent Justin Vermaak left South Africa on Tuesday, 5 August 2014, bound for London, UK and the 2014 running of the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup.
They managed to make it to their lodgings for their first night – the Cowarth Park Hotel in Ascot where they soaked up the atmosphere and took in a bit of polo on Wednesday afternoon.
Thursday was a busy day packed with press commitments and we believe S’manga has been generating plenty of interest in the foreign media. He gave some interviews and had a chance to get to know some of the other team members, before Smanga and Justin headed off to Mary Slack’s Abington Place, the UK base of Mike de Kock and current residence of S’manga’s old friend, Heavy Metal.
S’manga will be riding out on Newmarket’s historic heath tomorrow with some of the Mike de Kock string, under the watchful eye of assistant trainer, Steven Jell.
