Perfect Charger

Oscar Chavez shows his winning style aboard Perfect Charger – Singapore Racing 13-05-05

PERFECT CHARGER might have had his colours lowered on the Polytrack at his last start as the odds-on favourite but that won’t stop punters jumping on the bandwagon in race 7. The 4YO was beaten fair and square over 1100m on that occasion but given the winner, EASY MAN, looks one out of the box, PERFECT CHARGER should be able to bounce back and show he is better than the company he meets today with 55kg from gate two. He will need to be good though with the likes of SUPERNOVA – a five time winner on the Poly over 1200m – a big winning show in what looks a field with depth with LET’S SEE ACTION and BOUNDLESS GLORY also in the mix. The well-named FAALTLESS will also get plenty of punters support in the lucky last. Undefeated and impressive at two career starts, the Faaltaat 3YO heads the weights in what looks a solid Class 4 field but a 2kg claim courtesy of leading apprentice, Harry Kassim, should see him every chance with gate two a bonus. Like PERFECT CHARGER, he will need to be at his best with SILVER DOLLAR looking extremely well placed at handicap conditions for the first time and RED RIVER ROCK coming into this race with a very strong trial under his belt. The newcomer, EMPEROR MAX, has also trialed well and his presence makes the last a very interesting affair with LUCKY COME the value. Elsewhere on the card, debut winner HANKS looks the type that can go on with the job and should add another winner to the Moreira tally in race 5.

Race 1

Selections; 5 SUPER STAR – 6 MAX RESOURCE – 3 EXCUSEZ MOI – 2 DRAGON PLAYER
A very open Class 5 over 1700m starts things off on the all polytrack programme. SUPER STAR’s form reads poorly though he will enjoy being back on the poly over his favourite trip; his last win was in June with Harry Kassim in similar Class – he could give a bold sight. MAX RESOURCE is very consistent in this Class and has been racing well over shorter journeys. He has won twice at a mile and this is his preferred surface; with his normal rider Sam Subian up he should be handy all the way. DRAGON PLAYER has been racing consistently over shorter journeys; his only win was at 1600m on turf but he has been placed over further and handles the polytrack well enough – with SH Lee up and a good draw should be hard to beat. The stablemate EXCUSEZ MOI is a maiden who resumed with a good effort in Class 4 on turf over 1400m. Her better efforts have been on turf but the 1700m could suit and with the experienced South African rider Bernard Fayd’herbe up, she could race well. Moreira is on old VITALICO for Mark Walker; he is a five time winner the last coming over a year ago in a Class 5 mile ; he has tried twice at 1700m and failed on each occasion though if anyone can, Moreira can. It is hard to leave out any of the others with SILENT POWER, STAR BALLAD, ROCKETY CAT and even QUI EST LA having realistic chances.

1 BLAZING SPUR * Resuming and not showing enough at the trials to consider. 50
2 DRAGON PLAYER *** Only win was over 1600m on turf but handles the polytrack well enough. Recent efforts over shorter trips augur well for this. 5.00
3 EXCUSEZ MOI *** Good effort when resuming in higher grade. Maiden who has experienced South African hoop up and should appreciate the 1700m. 7.00
4 SILENT POWER *** Moreira got him home last start on the turf. Gets fellow Brazilian Malaysian-based Jose de De Souza. Best form form is on turf at a mile or less, but honest and will be thereabouts. 7.00
5 SUPER STAR *** Will enjoy being back on the poly over over his favourite trip. Last win was in June with this rider aboard in similar Class – could give a bold sight. 7.00
6 MAX RESOURCE *** Has been racing well over shorter journeys; has won twice at a mile and this is his preferred surface. Should be handy all the way. 5.00
7 CELESTIAL STAR * Yet to show up in five starts. 50
8 ROCKY GARDEN ** Hard to follow and two runs since resuming have been ordinary. On best form would be in this but market watch is advised. 12
9 VITALICO *** 9YO who last won a year ago over 1600m; has placed at past three outings but failed at only two attempts beyond a mile.If anyone can, Moreira can. 7.00
10 STAR BALLAD ** Battles away and has won this trip. Had every chance last outing but should be handy throughout again. 12
11 ROCKETY CAT ** Twenty start maiden who missed the kick last outing and put in a good effort at first try at 1700m. A non-winner but should be thereabouts again. 20
12 QUI EST LA ** Ran second to SUPER STAR in similar affair back in June and meets him 1kg better; should be handy most of the way. 14
13 HOST THE NATION * Eleven start maiden who has battled away at his past two outings. Some chance if he gets a start. 25
14 GRAVLAX ** Long term maiden who is usually running on late. Will be thereabouts again. 33

.

Race 2

Selections; 8 PERFECT CHALLENGER – 7 LUCKY STRATEGY – 1 SUPER SIX – 2 INFERMO
A Restricted Maiden over 1200m and most of these have been seen before and none have set the pulse racing. However, PERFECT CHALLENGER has looked useful both at the trials and his two outings – including last start when he was flying late with S John up. With Oscar Chavez to steer from a good gate he should be prominent throughout and can win. The Michael Freedman–trained LUCKY STRATEGY put in a shocker last start after a solid debut; he subsequently trialed well with the blinkers and with Alan Munro up that could make the difference. SUPER SIX somehow missed a place last start after being caught wide and looking the winner 50m out; his best form has been on turf but is well drawn and KT Cheng should have him handy throughout. INFERMO resumed with a decent effort last outing; he is up in weight and distance but he has pace and should be on the speed all the way. SAVAGE STORM put in a solid effort on debut and subsequently trialed well for Nunes, he should race well. The winkers go on AERO WINGS JUNIOR; he put in a better effort last start and his recent trial indicated further improvement.

1 SUPER SIX *** Somehow missed a place last start after being caught wide and looking the winner 50m out. Best form has been on turf but well drawn and cannot be discounted. 5.00
2 INFERMO *** Resumed with a decent effort last outing. Up in weight and distance but should be handy throughout again. 6.00
3 OUR RIVER DANCER ** Disappointed at past two outings when very one-paced in the straight. May go better with a quieter ride. 10
4 POWERFUL FIGHTER ** Better effort last start where he battled on over 1100m. Extra distance should suit but may want further. 10
5 AERO WINGS JUNIOR *** Winkers on; better effort last start and recent trial was solid. Improver. 10
6 JET COSMO * Blinkers on. Trialed fairly but prefer to see. 33
7 LUCKY STRATEGY *** Blinkers on. Poor effort last start but trialed well with the headgear and that could make a difference. Keep safe. 4.00
8 PERFECT CHALLENGER *** Flying late last start and trials well so a big wining show. 7.50
9 SAVAGE STORM *** Solid effort on debut and subsequently trialed well for Nunes. Should race well. 6.00
10 SPIN FIRE * Tongue-tie off. Needs more time. 33
11 WINGS SENIOR * Winkers on but will need more than that. 50

.

Race 3

Selections; 6 EL PERIGO – 5 ALPHA CENTAURI – 7 SEASONS ECHO – 1 U GOT IT
An Open Benchmark 67 over a mile. EL PERIGO who will appreciate the senior rider in Corey Brown and a solid pace. The company and race suits and from gate three, he can win. ALPHA CENTAURI is stepping up to a mile and gets Moreira, he has a win and two placings from three polytrack starts and should race well again. The blinkers go on SEASON’S ECHO who has been beaten at his last two outings on turf when well in the market; Alan Munro stays with him, he was placed at his only polytrack outing and is promising enough to be given another chance. LORD ROBERTO scored well when up to a suitable distance last outing; he is up 2.5 kg but Lisa Allpress stays on and he has a very good polytrack record. U GOT IT has not won for over two years but he has not been as low in the ratings as this and his last start third was an encouraging effort; with Harry Kassim aboard he gets a chance to break the drought.

1 U GOT IT *** Getting down in grade. Up 3.5 kg on decent third at last outing over 1700m. Last win was at this journey in BM97 over two years ago. Due. 5.50
2 KNIGHT’S COMMAND * Resuming. Smart when right but best form has been on turf. 20
3 MY FRIEND JO *** Three-time mile winner who is usually around the mark in these and should be doing best work late. 12
4 YOURSTOKEEP ** Not the most reliable but has been placed at a mile. Well drawn and if ridden forward could be hard to pass. 14
5 ALPHA CENTAURI *** Stepping up to a mile and gets Moreira. Has a win and two placings from three polytrack starts and should race well again. 6.00
6 EL PERIGO *** Not far away at last two outings – excuses last start not to finish closer – and gets senior rider. Will appreciate a solid pace and could be closing late. 10
7 SEASONS ECHO *** Blinkers on; beaten at last two outings when favourite. Was placed at his only polytrack outing and deserves another chance. 4.00
8 LORD ROBERTO *** Scored well when up to a suitable distance last outing. Up 2.5 kg but has a very good polytrack record and should race well again. 4.50
9 FUJIN BRIGHT ** Placed over a mile two starts back in Class 4 and could run a bold race again without surprising. 14
10 WINNING SUCCESS ** Strong miler who will give plenty of cheek but may want something a little easier than this. 14
11 CHEETAH * Wants easier than this but could set a speed. 33

.

Race 4

Selections; 9 BALESTRA – 3 BIG HEART – 11 TEOCHEW BARRISTER – 10 JUST DUIT
A very tricky Initiation over 1000m with no obvious superstars involved and indeed a chance for a couple of unfashionable riders to knock in a welcome win. BALESTRA raced very well on debut over this trip; with only 51kg and Suhaimi retaining the mount he should give a bold sight again. Danny Chee climbs on the Leslie Khoo trained JUST DUIT, despite racing greenly he showed plenty of speed last start finishing third on the turf over 1200m. His previous polytrack effort was good and if he has learnt from his recent trial he should be hard to catch. BIG HEART ran on very strongly over 1100m on debut, a more positive ride by Saifudin from gate two could see him right in contention. TEOCHEW BARRISTER is another who could improve from a nice gate and will be value. Q NINE STAR has had the benefit of seven starts and has been placed but well beaten at his last two outings; the winkers are upgraded to blinkers and with Manoel Nunes retaining the mount he gets his chance in this weak field. Laurie Laxon has two interesting first starters. ADRIEN is another of the Oscar Stable, the blinkers go on and Lisa Allpress has the ride; he is 4YO by Street Sense, the dam was a Group 1 winner over a mile and the progeny such as FUTURE SHOCK and PROSPERITY have wanted ground. His other runner is FOLLOW THE KING another un-raced 4YO by My Halo whose trials have been unspectacular yet Moreira has taken the mount. Watch the market goes without saying.

1 GOLDEN ALONG * Steady, but yet to really show up in three starts. 20
2 ADRIEN *** Blinkers on; 4YO by Street Sense. Trial form good, although he has looked a bit green. Mother was a Group 1 mile winner and he may want longer. Watch for support. 10
3 BIG HEART *** Ran on very strongly late at debut over 1100m. A more positive ride expected from good gate. 10
4 DESTINY GENERAL * Blinkers and tongue tie off. Showed speed but faded on debut. Watch for support with Oscar Chavez taking the ride. 20
5 FOLLOW THE KING ** 4YO by My Halo having first start. Trials have been moderate yet Moreira has taken the mount. Watch for stable support. 10
6 MIGHTY HUNTER * Resuming. Showed speed but knocked up at last outing. May well need the run. 20
7 MISCHEF LOVE US * No. 33
8 Q NINE STAR *** Winkers upgraded to blinkers. Placed but well beaten at last two outings. Gets his chance in this weak field. 5.00
9 BALESTRA *** Raced very well on debut over this trip. With only 51kg and Suhaimi retaining the mount he should give a bold sight again. 4.00
10 JUST DUIT *** Showed plenty of speed last start and previous polytrack effort was sound. Should be on the speed for a long way. 3.50
11 TEOCHEW BARRISTER *** Improved effort last start and could show up from the ace. Keep safe at odds. 12

.

Race 5

Selections; 6 HANKS – 4 HYPERNOVA – 1 CAIYAYA – 7 IRISH LIGHTNING
A Class 4 over 1000m on the polytrack in which there will be no shortage of pace. It should be a charge of the light brigade early with HYPERNOVA, IRISH LIGHTNING, DON INAKI and CAIYAYA having drawn the outside gates. HANKS – also drawn awkwardly in 8 – did very well to win his maiden after being taken on early and Moreira stays aboard. With the speed out wide he will need to keep out of the speed battle and save himself for one final crack at them. HYPERNOVA had a similar bad draw last outing – albeit on the turf – and fought strongly to just miss; Corey Brown stays on and he should go close again back on his winning surface. CAIYAYA is one of those horses that is very hard to beat when he gets in the right race; he out-sped them last time over 1100m in this grade and has won nine races from 51 starts – two at this trip. With Harry Kassim’s claim he gets in with 1kg less than he carried last start and can never be ignored. IRISH LIGHTNING is a 1000m specialist, he has won three times at the journey and fought well over 1100m last start; the wider draw does not help but he will be up near the lead for a long way. Of the other speedsters JUST GOOD has the blessing of the ace and Manoel Nunes, he has speed but whether he has the class against this seasoned lot remains to be seen. SELIGI is resuming but is way down in grade and could be the one running over the top late. WHAT’S DAT is also a useful type, he has won first up and he too will be finishing on late.

1 CAIYAYA *** Out-sped them last time over 1100m in this grade. Has won 9 races from 51 starts, gets in with 1kg less than he carried last start and can never be ignored. Will be up there on the speed once again. 4.50
2 SELIGI *** Resuming. Has been placed but never won on the polytrack. Down in grade and with the 4kg claim should be closing late. 14
3 DON INAKI ** Very speedy; claim will help but wide draw may make him vulnerable late. 14
4 HYPERNOVA *** Another speedster with a bad alley. Good effort last outing from similar draw and should be on the speed for a long way. 4.00
5 FAT BOBO * Ordinary effort on resuming and has struck a hot field here. 33
6 HANKS *** Scored well in Initiation company last outing. This is much tougher but Moreira stays on and should give him every chance. 4.00
7 IRISH LIGHTNING *** Winkers off. Has won three times at this trip and will be on the speed for a long way. 6.50
8 JUST GOOD ** Nicely drawn, has speed, a top rider and a good alley. Should be able to give plenty of cheek. 14
9 WHAT’S DAT ** Smart performer resuming. They will probably go too fast for him but he has won first-up and could surprise. 14
10 FISH RABBITFISH * Has speed but will be found wanting late. 33
11 HERO SUCCESS ** Not far away last time, gets the tongue tie but this is a tough field. 20
12 LIGHTNING MAC * Wants easier than this. 33
13 HAPPY ENDING ** Very speedy but drawn wide. Will inject plenty of speed if he gets a run. 20
14 DYNAMIC VENTURE * Has won twice at 1000m but recent form not good enough. 33

.

Race 6

Selections; 3 KAISER BRIGHT – 7 BOOMARANG DELUXE – 2 PACINO – 9 LUCKY DAPPER
Too many winning chances and given most are honest performers, the finish could be busy. In fact it’s hard to separate the likes of KAISER BRIGHT, PACINO and LUCK DAPPER who are all in terrific each-way form, drawn well and can all win. Of the three, KAISER BRIGHT did enough from a wide gate last start to think regular hoop, Alan Munro, will be confident from gate 2 and the 4YO can knock in his third career win. The veteran, PACINO, has drawn inside him and has blinkers so he keeps them all honest with Corey Brown up and LUCKY DAPPER, who has only had 12 career starts and refuses to run a bad race, has to be a big show from gate 5. The interesting runner is BOOMERANG DELUXE. The 3YO won very well on debut given a tough run throughout and the form from that race has held up so expect support and a win would not surprise. The pace should be solid throughout so MANNY PACUIAO will be in the mix with a big run expected late with ALL MY WAY, MEXBOROUGH LAD and DUTY FREE all serious hopes with value likely.

1 TRUE NORTH * Struggling and drawn badly but senior hoop a good move. 100
2 PACINO *** Wins soon this grade and blinkers on from gate one looks a good combination. 6.00
3 KAISER BRIGHT *** In terrific each-way form with good gate a factor today. 5.00
4 MANNY PACUIAO *** Will be doing best work late and looks well placed to win. 5.00
5 ALL MY WAY *** Backed and ran super two back this trip/surface and good last start. Goes close. 12
6 BENJI’S RULE * Better than what he has showed of late but prefer to wait. 50
7 BOOMARANG DELUXE *** Did it tough to win well on debut and that form should hold up. Follow. 3.50
8 GOOD BUDDY ** Appreciates first-up run with market a fair guide. 33
9 LUCKY DAPPER *** Super consistent and often value and in the mix here. 6.00
10 MEXBOROUGH BOY *** Three-year-old who goes OK and very much appreciates handicap conditions. 12
11 PURE RABID * Appreciates first-up run but needs longer. 200
12 DUTY FREE *** In super form and might be up to this Class with light weight. Value. 20
13 POWERPAC ** Excuses last start and form prior has him in the exotic mix at odds. 33
14 DEN * Form suggests he needs easier but recent trial OK. 100

.

Race 7

Selections; 11 PERFECT CHARGER – 6 LET’S SEE ACTION – 8 SUPERNOVA – 3 BOUNDLESS GLORY
Exciting Poly sprinter, PERFECT CHARGER, gets his chance to show he is up to this company but will need to be as good as we think he is with 55kg at the race conditions. The One Cool Cat 4YO was beaten for the first time on the all-weather track at his last start but that was behind the exciting EASY MAN so expect him to bounce back with support likely. There is plenty of opposition though and SUPER NOVA looks equally suited on the poly track with five wins and two places from eight starts on this surface. Corey Brown is back onboard and given he has two wins on the 5YO, he should get every chance from gate 5. Barend Vorster, who rode SUPER NOVA to a last start victory, jumps on the Shaw stable chance, LET’S SEE ACTION, and he looks very well placed in this company and surface to go very close. BOUNDLESS GLORY – who beat LET’S SEE ACTION by a whisker the last time the pair met – is in terrific form and probably the benchmark. TERMINATOR the only horse with the form to win although DARK MATTER must be better than what he showed at his first run back in Singapore so look for improvement.

1 DARK MATTER ** On the quick back up after finding it tough back in Singapore in top company. Keep safe. 12
2 DUJARDIN * Smart stayer resuming and prefer to just watch. 50
3 BOUNDLESS GLORY *** In super form and this looks suitable to keep the run going. 4.50
4 EXCAVATOR * Not at his best of late. 50
5 GRAND ARRIVAL * Headgear off after ordinary first-up run. Not for me. 100
6 LET’S SEE ACTION *** Pay to ignore last start as this company is his caper. Can win. 6.00
7 DEVONSHIRE * Stayer resuming after issues earlier in the year. Later. 50
8 SUPERNOVA *** Going through the grades courtesy of excellent Polytrack form. Follow. 7.00
9 SHAOLIN SOLDIER ** Resuming after bleeding attack and should go well first-up. 33
10 TERMINATOR *** Backed and not beaten far last start so pay to follow while in good form. 4.00
11 PERFECT CHARGER *** Promising type who ran into a good one last start so worth another chance. 3.00

.

Race 8

Selections; 3 TOMORROWS DREAMS – 1 PERFECT PLAN – 6 REAL STEEL – 4 ECLAIR SENSATION
Danger signs here for punters with some significant gear changes suggesting some form reversals. As such a horse like TOMORROWS DREAM with a tongue-toe added could easily show up and win. Of course the one-time winner will also very much appreciate the handicap conditions and suitable company after racing in Novice events at his two starts after his maiden win. He is also back to his winning trip and with a 3kg claim from gate 3, he goes close. PERFECT PLAN also gets back to his winning trip and the fact blinkers go back on (and a tongue-tie) has him improving and a win would not surprise. Of the rest, REAL STEEL broke his maiden status in fine style last start and probably is the horse to beat on that effort with TAKE IT HOME and ALWAYS A WINNER also in the winning mix. Moreira on ECLAIR SENSATION suggests he is short and while he can win, value in a race like this suggests we look elsewhere.

1 PERFECT PLAN *** Coming off a shocker but blinkers back on with tongue-tie over winning trip suggests he goes mighty close. 5.00
2 STREET CAT * Has been ordinary since resuming and have to take on trust. 50
3 TOMORROWS DREAMS *** Form looks poor but handicap conditions over winning trip suggest he can win with tongue-tie on. 6.00
4 ECLAIR SENSATION *** Showed last start he will win soon when racing on pace and hard to beat in this. 2.75
5 TAKE IT HOME *** Bumped into a strong field last start similar affair and thereabouts. Each-way. 12
6 REAL STEEL *** Broke maiden status with strong win last start and looks up to this company. 3.00
7 MORRIS * Blinkers off after shocker last start and easier to ignore. 50
8 ALWAYS A WINNER *** In very solid form and well worth including at each-way odds. 12
9 DRAGON LUCK * Tongue-tie off, no. 200
10 PRINCIPAL * No. 200
11 DIAMOND ON THE BAY * Hard to have. 50

.

Race 9

Selections; 1 FAALTLESS – 8 SILVER DOLLAR – 5 RED RIVER ROCK – 3 EMPEROR MAX
Again, the last looks a tough race to send punters home with the unbeaten and likely shortpriced favourite, FAALTLESS, facing some tough opposition. But while you could make a serious case for the likes of EMPEROR MAX and RED RIVER ROCK on some very good trial form, SILVER DOLLAR on excellent Juvenile form and LUCKY COME at the weights, they all have to burst the FAALTLESS bubble. SILVER DOLLAR in particular gets an excellent chance to win at his first go at handicap Class 4 conditions. With form around WAR AFFAIR and DESERT FOX, SILVER DOLLAR could easily win this and be very competitive in the 3YO series in 2014, so well worth following. But FAALTLESS backed up a very good debut win with a very strong win in Class 4 and while having to carry extra weight against the likes of LUCKY COME, he could be too good for these. He will earn his win though, so play with care.

1 FAALTLESS *** Backed up debut win with a strong victory. Hard to beat. 2.25
2 LUCKY COME *** Beaten less than 2kg behind FAALTLESS two back and gets a nice pull at the weights. Value. 20
3 EMPEROR MAX *** Former Australian who has looked very good at recent trial and can win at Singapore debut. 5.00
4 PURE TACTICS ** Won or placed last three starts this trip/surface/company. Keep safe. 16
5 RED RIVER ROCK *** Disappointed last start similar affair but subsequent trial very strong. Follow. 10
6 PROVIDENCE ** In fine form but this field is strong. exotics. 10
7 WORK AHEAD ** Not a lot last start but better suited here and improves at odds. 50
8 SILVER DOLLAR *** Honest youngster who will win in Class 4 company sooner than later. Follow. 4.00
9 CHEETAH ON FIRE ** Blinkers off and right in this late if right. 33
10 ARAPUNI * Lame last start and this looks too tough. 100
11 HOOPER ** Looked the winner last start at long odds and a must for exotics. 50
12 SKY STORM * Not a mile away last start but prefer in easier company. 100
