Got Luck

Got Luck

It’s hard to argue with form when a horse – GOT LUCK – wins four races from it’s first five starts. Add the fact three of the wins have been over the 1000m – the trip he faces on Sunday – and he really should go on with the job. But the field GOT LUCK meets in the KSC event looks good and given GOLDEN SAND STEED and SHIPPING FORECAST are also in winning form, the race looks a beauty! GOLDEN SAND STEED is consistent as the rising sun – winning five and placing ten times from 17 career starts – and SHIPPING FORECAST comes into this after knocking in two impressive wins. The race looks a cracker but GOT LUCK looks a horse who knows how to win and it will pay to follow the Danroad 4YO through the grades. Elsewhere on the card, SAVODAN also looks a strong winning hope in the lucky last. The Savabeel 3YO won his first two starts before narrowly going down at his most recent run and can make amends in what is a very suitable affair.

Race 7

Selections; 4 HOST THE NATION – 8 SEASONS WONDER – 3 BLACK BEAN – 9 STAR BALLAD|
He may be a 13 start maiden but HOST THE NATION looks ready to win and from gate one in this field, he should have no excuses. The in-form Brazilian, Manoel Nunes, stays onboard and after finding trouble at his last couple of runs for close-up second placings, he will ensure he gets enough time to have a fair crack at the leaders in the straight. All things being equal he should win but a couple of others have enough form on the board to keep him honest and SEASON’S WONDER certainly good enough to keep safe. He has drawn awkwardly but the field doesn’t have a lot of depth so expect positive ride from a rejuvenated Ivaldo Santana. BLACK BEAN might make the pace and given he was plugging away over the mile late at his last start you could expect a cheeky run again with STAR BALLAD one that could surprise from a good gate.

1 ESCALADE PEAK ** Only good run was when he led four starts back so a positive ride is needed. 20
2 RECIPROCATE ** Excuses last start (saddle slipped) and happy to think he improves this company. 20
3 BLACK BEAN *** Battled on well over the mile last start and pay to follow. 4.50
4 HOST THE NATION *** Excuses not to win at his last couple and the one to be on here. 2.00
5 PINYIN ** Improved in this company last start and can include in exotics. 20
6 STYLISH LAD * No. 100
7 THE GIANT * Didn’t need widest gate. 100
8 SEASONS WONDER *** Last start better than the result given tough run so worth another look. 4.00
9 STAR BALLAD *** Suited trip and track and is the improver from gate two. Keep very safe. 8.00
10 GOLD HALO ** Last start OK and one that adds value to exotics. 50

Race 8

Selections; 1 GOODPACK – 5 OM – 8 THUMPING – 4 BENDICION
Whatever happens in this race on Sunday, the form will hold up well for future reference. GOODPACK, with form in some good Group races, heads the weights and is the benchmark. While only a three-time winner, GOODPACK, always seems to give a good account of himself and given he lines up in a BM74 with a comparatively fair 57kg, he could be hard to beat. OM looms as a big danger. The half-brother to Better Than Ever, OM has had a couple of runs over 1400m and the mile looks perfect backing up from last Sunday. And down on 50.5kg, the US-bred filly, THUMPING, could get support and run well. A winner of two from four career starts, the daughter of Any Given Saturday won in fine fashion at her most recent run and that effort has her a major player in races like this and over further. And while most others have some hope, another NH-bred filly, BENDICION, looks a big show and is also a horse to follow.

1 GOODPACK *** Will find this a lot easier than recent fields and hard to beat with blinkers back on. 3.00
2 FREEZEMASTER ** Will run a cheeky race but could be found out late. 20
3 EMPIRE BAY ** Never looked comfortable last start but battled on OK. Follow. 6.00
4 BENDICION *** More than handy mare who will be right in this finish. 6.00
5 OM *** Backing up after good run over 1400m last Sunday. Ready to win. 3.50
6 PRINCE MAG ** Issues at Singapore debut (debris in trachea) and worth another look with tongue-tie added and nice recent trial. 20
7 IRISH REBEL ** Pay to ignore last start on the Poly and take on some good turf form. 20
8 THUMPING *** Won super in Class 4 last start and step up to mile in her favour. Follow. 5.00

Race 9

Selections; 3 GOT LUCK – 7 SHIPPING FORECAST – 1 GOLDEN SAND STEED – 2 BIONIC BOY
This race could get very interesting with three horses – GOLDEN SAND STEED, GOT LUCK and SHIPPING FORECAST – all coming off strong wins. Of the three, GOLDEN SAND STEED probably has the runs on the board in this company and his career record of five wins and ten places from only 17 starts is outstanding. But he has a good horses weight and even with Shafiq’s 2kg claim he will ned to be at his best up against a couple of up-andcomers in GOT LUCK and SHIPPING FORECAST. GOT LUCK with four wins from just five career starts picks himself as a horse with a big future. The fact he won well last start and had some excuses for his only defeat two back suggests he can go on with this and hard to beat here. SHIPPING FORECAST took thirteen starts to break his maiden status but that win and his subsequent victory have been very impressive and has to be considered a threat in this. BIONIC BOY the only other horse to keep safe on recent form.

1 GOLDEN SAND STEED *** Knocked in a well deserved win last start and always a winning hope. 3.00
2 BIONIC BOY ** Looked to have every chance last start but not far away and form prior has him in the mix. 12
3 GOT LUCK *** Obviously goes super winning four from five and hard to beat again on strong last start win. 2.00
4 GREAT LIGHT * Resuming and while up to this on his day, might need the run. 33
5 PRINCESS SARAH * Former Malaysian who might find a few of these too slick. 50
6 TIM * Resuming after a disappointing run and have to take on trust. 50
7 SHIPPING FORECAST *** Took a while to break maiden status but flying with two strong wins and have to follow. 3.50
8 LEAVE ME ALONE * Needs easier. 50

Race 10

Selections; 4 FAST FAST BOY – 2 LUCKY DAPPER – 11 DANNY – 7 DYNASTY KNIGHT
This KSD looks a a race where punters can find some value with a handful of horses ready to improve and win at (hopefully) odds. Case in point is FAST FAST BOY who comes into this with one “sighter” run for new trainer Bruce Marsh and jockey, Corey Brown. The lightly-raced 4YO won on debut before some patchy form leading into a break. His first-run back over 1200m was better than it looked on paper and his effort late suggests he is looking for 1400m and this company suits. One that won’t be value but has to win sooner than later is the Pat Shaw-trained, LUCKY DAPPER. Although a winner of only one race in 15 starts, the 4YO has placed a frustrating 10 times so another win would be well deserved. Some other value runners include DANNY and DYNASTY KNIGHT – although both have drawn awkwardly with BLACK RAIN, SPINNING SUCCESS and CHEETAH all some hope.

1 BLACK RAIN *** Wide draw not a concern as will be doing best work late. Each way. 5.00
2 LUCKY DAPPER *** In very good form without a win but has to be a big show. 3.00
3 SPINNING SUCCESS *** Wont win out of turn but pay to include somewhere. 8.00
4 FAST FAST BOY *** Plenty to like about his first-up run for new trainer and goes close on that effort. 8.00
5 RON * Not far away first-run back but query on this surface. 12
6 CHEETAH *** Not beaten far last start this trip and in this a long way. 12
7 DYNASTY KNIGHT *** Drawn wide but looks very well placed to show his best which could be good enough at odds. 33
8 LADY TRIO ** Another drawn awkwardly but in good each-way form and can include somewhere. 12
9 MY TRICIA ** A couple of solid runs since maiden wins and another to include at odds. 20
10 PURE RABID ** Maiden win was on the Poly but goes OK this type of race with downgrade to winkers. 33
11 DANNY *** Ready to win again but will need things to go his way from wide gate. 8.00
12 RISING SHADOW * Appreciates first-up run but needs easier than this. 100
13 GARATTA KID * Blinkers off but prefer in Class 5. 100
14 JET SET * No. 200
15 SUI GENERIS ** Form OK and could fill a place at odds. 33
16 JOYCE * No. 200

Race 11

Selections; 1 SAVODAN – 2 DIVINE HERO – 5 TAVAN BOGD – 11 DANNY RICARDO
Going by what we have seen at his first three starts, if SAVODAN wins, it won’t be by much. And although just beaten (for the first time) at his most recent run, his effort in a nice race suggests he goes close back in his winning grade. You would also presume he will be supported and in what looks a field with depth there will be plenty of options for punters looking for value. DIVINE HERO might be one to watch first-up after a short break. The Australian-bred 5YO certainly goes well enough in this type of race to follow and given he has had a few trials in preparation – his last one very nice – he could win first-up. TAVAN BOGD couldn’t win first-up but appreciates the run and with blinkers on he might show up here at hopefully each-way odds. You can throw DARING JOURNEY after his good firstup run into that mix with plenty of other hopes including ALL MY WAY, GOLD RUN and DANNY RICARDO who looks to be hitting winning form.

1 SAVODAN *** Lost no friends when narrowly beaten for first-time last start. Hard to beat. 2.50
2 DIVINE HERO *** Nice enough type resuming with nice recent trial under his belt. Value. 16
3 ANGRY CAT ** Nothing last start but showed two back on turf he goes close if at his best. 8.00
4 GOOD LOOUKEN ** Last start winner but query this surface. 10
5 TAVAN BOGD *** First-up run good late and looks suited here with blinkers to show his best. 12
6 DARING JOURNEY *** First-up run solid as expected and in this a long way. 12
7 ALL MY WAY *** Never looked comfortable last start but previous form has him winning soon. 12
8 POTLUCK ** Excuses last start similar affair and will be value. 33
9 EASY MONEY ** Youngster having first run against open age and could surprise at the handicap conditions. 20
10 GOLD RUN *** Always an each-way hope this type of race and pay to follow. 6.00
11 DANNY RICARDO *** Starting to hit the form that has him winning races like this. 12
12 TAI COMMANDS ** Excuses last start but didn’t run on so have to take on trust. 33
13 QUITE A MAN * No. 200
