Youngsters Show Their Paces

Sunday 22 May in Singapore

Hello Michelle (Alan Munro, middle) could be a good pick

Hello Michelle (Alan Munro, middle) could be a good pick

The third leg of the Singapore Golden Horseshoe series sees the best of the current crop of 2YO’s head to the start in race 5 over 1100m.

The $90,000 purse also has a $20,000 bonus for an Aussie-bred and qualified horse and that is some serious cash for connections with a couple of Group 2YO races still to come. Two horses that have wins under their belts in JUPITER GOLD and HELLO MICHELLE are the obvious picks.

JUPITER GOLD won well when running on late at his debut where HELLO MICHELLE ran fourth after leading early.
HELLO MICHELLE made quick amends when ridden more quietly next start but only just with DEIMOS and the consistent MYSTIC MASTER right in the mix in what was a thrilling finish.

frontad-singapore-airlines-cup_140x120And while any of those four mentioned win this without surprising, a few newcomers in LIM’S RACER, I’M ON FIRE and SUPER ACE all have trialled well enough to win on debut. LIM’S RACER probably looked the most impressive when winning his Official Trial in a solid time early in the month and with Corey Brown riding for Steve Burridge, the filly should go close.

Race 5

Selections; 8 LIM’S RACER – 1 JUPITER GOLD – 2 HELLO MICHELLE – 9 MYSTIC MASTER
The third leg of the Golden Horseshoe and as there has been no standout 2YO to date a competitive contest can be expected with some newcomers likely to figure here. JUPITER GOLD ran on powerfully to win over 1000m last start and the extra distance should suit, he should be hard to hold off. DEIMOS was just beaten at debut, the extra distance and senior rider Michael Rodd will help, and he should be handy throughout. HELLO MICHELLE showed the benefit of race experience last start and ran on to win narrowly; from the good gate she should be handy throughout. MYSTIC MASTER has placed at both outings and with Vlad Duric up should be handy throughout. Of the unraced LIM’S RACER with Corey Brown looks the best and can win while SUPER ACE with Manoel Nunes up and I’M ON FIRE with Barend Vorster have also trialled nicely; all are bred for speed and could debut well.

1 JUPITER GOLD *** Ran on powerfully to win over 1000m last start and extra distance should suit. Should be hard to hold off. 5.00
2 HELLO MICHELLE *** Showed benefit of experience last start and ran on to win narrowly. From the good gate should be handy throughout. 5.00
3 DEIMOS *** Was just beaten at debut. Extra distance and senior rider will help. Should be handy throughout. 6.00
4 DREAMPITCHER * Showed speed but dropped off at debut. Could improve. 25
5 HALO BRIGHT ** Showed speed at debut but faded and returned not striding freely. Needs to improve. 33
6 I’M ON FIRE *** By speed sire I am Invincible. Half-brother to 3-time winner Macka’s Back and winner Pure Meteor. Has trialled solidly and is well drawn. Watch for support. 12
7 KUBERA’S CHIEF * Blinkers on. Did little at debut and trial was moderate. 33
8 LIM’S RACER *** By Red Giant. Trialled very nicely and can win on debut with support likely. 8.00
9 MYSTIC MASTER *** Placed at both outings and with Duric up should be handy throughout. 6.00
10 QUEEN ROULETTE * Battled on at debut. Needs to improve. 33
11 SILVER KING * Well back at both outings and might need longer. 33
12 SUPER ACE *** By Sequalo. Trialled well albeit green and should debut well for Nunes. 5.00
13 SMART MASTER * Winkers on. Did not show up at debut. 50

Race 6

Selections; 7 LIKA TIGER – 3 SINGSURAT – 4 PERFECT CHALLENGER – 8 ROYAL EXPLORER
A KSD over a mile may suit LIKA TIGER who is racing well in this grade on turf and has two poly wins; with Glen Boss up could be hard to hold off. SINGSURAT would like longer but he battled on well last start on turf and will enjoy being on the poly. KINGS RYKER has struggled in Singapore but gets to a grade, surface and distance that may suit. Similarly, the Argentinean WATER PARK has shown nothing in two turf runs but his recent trial was sound and he will be much better suited on the polytrack. PERFECT CHALLENGER has been battling on turf but his last win was this class, distance and surface and he could show up. ROYAL EXPLORER won a Maiden last start over this trip; he is up in grade and weight but is well drawn and can be prominent throughout.

1 KINGS RYKER *** Pacifiers on. Has battled since arrival in Singapore. Found 2000m too far but down in grade and might find this easier. Should be handy throughout. 5.00
2 WATER PARK *** Has struggled at Singapore outings but improved at recent trial. Will appreciate easier grade and polytrack. 5.00
3 SINGSURAT *** Battled on well last start. Would like longer but surface suits and should be in the finish. 4.00
4 PERFECT CHALLENGER *** Has been battling on turf but last win was this class, distance and surface. Could show up. 8.00
5 LUCKY COIN ** Did nothing last start and most recent win was in this grade but has not shown up in two poly outings. Could improve for Duric. 20
6 DEAUVILLE * Blinkers off but needs to improve. Only wins have been on turf. 33
7 LIKA TIGER *** Racing well in this grade on turf and has two poly wins. With Glen Boss up could be hard to hold off. 4.00
8 ROYAL EXPLORER *** Won Maiden last start over this trip. Up in grade and weight but well drawn and can be prominent throughout. 8.00
9 RON ** Won in Class 5 last start and better off in that company. Goes best when sent forward. 14

Race 7

Selections; 6 ALWAYS A WINNER – 1 GUILTLESS – 3 SO SIMPLE – 7 GOOD SCORE
A mundane Class 5 full of ordinary and unreliable conveyances. ALWAYS A WINNER is a journeyman suited this grade and distance and with Vlad Duric up he should be on the speed throughout. GOOD SCORE is resuming with blinkers and tongue-tie on; he has speed and can be hard to run down. GUILTLESS had support last start and was prominent throughout over 1200m; he will appreciate the shorter trip and the claim helps though the gate may test. I-SCREAM NOW has only won one race but is suited at this trip and with Manoel Nunes up should be handy throughout. SO SIMPLE is yet to win but has placed four times from 13 poly starts; he placed at this trip two starts back and can show up from the good gate.

1 GUILTLESS *** Had support last start and was prominent throughout over 1200m. Will appreciate shorter trip and claim though gate may test. 5.00
2 SATELLITE STAR ** Has changed stables. Only win was over his trip and recent trial was sound. Claim helps. Watch for support. 12
3 SO SIMPLE *** Yet to win but has placed four times from 13 poly starts. Placed this trip two starts back and can show up from the good gate. 12
4 FOLLOW THE KING ** Battled away when resuming after bleeding attack but can improve with blinkers back on. 25
5 SUPER EIGHT ** Disappointed last start but ran on fairly on poly two starts back and could show up. 20
6 ALWAYS A WINNER *** Recent trials have been good. Suited this grade and distance. With Duric up should be on the speed throughout. 3.50
7 GOOD SCORE *** Resuming with blinkers and tongue-tie on. Can show speed and be hard to run down. 5.00
8 I-SCREAM NOW ** Suited this trip and with Nunes up should be handy throughout. 5.00
9 BONJOUR BOB * Maiden who needs to show improvement. 33
10 OASIS SPUR * Well back when resuming. Hasn’t won for a long time though this distance suits. 33
11 JACK OF HEARTS * Needs to improve. 33
12 CASSIS OOLONG * Hasn’t won for a long time but can go forward and give a sight. 16
13 HOW HUGE * Battling and only wins have been on turf. 25
14 SACRED CROWN ** Suited this class surface and distance. Recent trial was sound and can show up fresh. 12

Race 8

Selections; 1 MR WHITAKER – 2 HAPPY HAPPY – 8 MR PATRON – 9 MORALES
A very weak KSD field assembled and as such a horse in solid form in MR WHITAKER gets his chance. Given what he has shown of late he probably wins regardless but from gate 1 with Vlad Duric retaining the ride, he is very hard to beat. No one jumps off the page to beat him, which suggests he will be very short in the betting so it may pay to keep an eye on HAPPY HAPPY in what is a very suitable race. Yes, the 4YO did pull up lame last start, – which is always a concern – but with the assumption he is fit for this race, he can win on what he showed at the start prior. Two last start Class 5 winners in MR PATRON and GOLDEN JADE have to be included in this weak field while MORALES should find the company to his liking so worth thought in exotics.

1 MR WHITAKER *** In solid form and gets his chance from gate 1. 2.10
2 HAPPY HAPPY *** Pulled up lame last start so can ignore and seriously consider on big first-up effort. Value. 20
3 CAPTIVATE ** Freshened after a bad run but could improve lengths back on the Poly. 8.00
4 SING ROULETTE ** Tardy starts a big issue of late but goes OK when he gets his act together. 20
5 SUN MIRAGE * Former Australian who placed at only start in the bush but local trials suggests he needs the run. 20
6 NOVA STAR * Form poor but drops back to winning trip and track so could improve. 20
7 ZARULES ** Handy enough maiden resuming after dislodging jockey but may need longer to show his best. 8.00
8 MR PATRON *** Took Class 5 to win but that form should hold up in this weak KSD field. 5.00
9 MORALES ** Form reads badly but will enjoy this Company and the Poly. 12
10 GOLDEN JADE ** Stormed home to win this trip in Class 5 last start but may be better suited there. 12

Race 9

Selections; 6 EFFORTLESS – 3 SUPER BRILLIANT – 1 MASTERMIND – 4 LIM’S SINCERE
Very hard to go pass the two last start winners in EFFORTLESS and SUPER BRILLIANT in this Class 4 Poly sprint. EFFORTLESS in particular won well in this company with a lightweight when getting a start as the emergency acceptor. He is up a 4kg but is in good enough form to suggest he can go on with the job. SUPER BRILLIANT also comes off a nice win – albeit in KSD company – but that effort suggests he is more than up to winning in Class 4 and it will pay to follow. Of the rest, MASTERMIND had issues last start (respiratory) and has shown previously he wins races like this with gate 1 in his favour and likewise LIM’S SINCERE can show his best after a first-up run over 1200m with the drop back to 1000m in his favour.

1 MASTERMIND *** Last run better than the result given issues (respiratory) and can bounce back and win this. 5.00
2 BLUE DIAMOND ** Very hard horse to follow but showed again last start why he has to kept safe. 12
3 SUPER BRILLIANT *** Found winning form and likely to go on with the job given strong effort to the wire last start. 2.80
4 LIM’S SINCERE *** Very much appreciates first-up run and goes close with 1000m in his favour. 8.00
5 OUR TOUCHE ** Had issues at the start last time out and always a show with more luck in running, 8.00
6 EFFORTLESS *** Racing in very good order and no reason he can’t win again. 3.00
7 UNCLE LUCKY ** Will improve lengths on Singapore debut with that run under his belt and better gate. 33
8 SATELLITE GENIUS * Easier to ignore. 50
9 RACING TALENT * Reassess easier and perhaps headgear on recent good trial. 50

.

Race 10

Selections; 2 MIGHTY GLORY – 6 XZUBERANCE – 8 HONGCHEN – 4 ROCK ESPRIT
Pat Shaw has had a great start to the 2016 season and he has two good chances – MIGHTY GLORY and ROCK ESPRIT- in this KSD Poly mile to add to his tally. MIGHTY GLORY in particular looks very well placed back in KSD company over a Poly mile after a solid first-up run. Shaw won’t have it all his own way though and XZUBERANCE also looks to found the right race. The 4YO has won at the trip and track previously and this company is certainly in his favour. The honest HONGCHEN doesn’t win out of turn but gets Glen Boss and a good gate so gets his chance with THANKFULNESS likely to give another bold sight at each-way odds.

1 SERPICO * Company, gate and senior hoop helps but form hopeless. 33
2 MIGHTY GLORY *** Very much appreciates solid first-up run and hard to beat back in recent winning company, trip and track. 3.00
3 ECLAIR FIESTA * Shown little at three start in Singapore but may appreciate the Poly. 50
4 ROCK ESPRIT *** Drawn wide but appreciates the switch to winning surface and the mile should suit. 5.00
5 SUN FORCE * No. 100
6 XZUBERANCE *** Form solid and very much appreciates the Poly mile. Big show. 8.00
7 THANKFULNESS *** Took a drop to Class 5 to win but can lead and hard to run down. 8.00
8 HONGCHEN *** Doesn’t win out of turn but honest and always worth an each-way look. 8.00
9 FORTUNE SPIRIT ** Recent win was in Class 5 but will be competitive at odds. 20
10 SCHILTRON * Reassess in easier company. 50

.

Race 11

Selections; 3 CONILAD – 1 BIGDINERO – 5 COURT CASE – 6 HELEN
While we give winning chances to a few of the other runners, CONILAD looks to have found a very suitable race to make it two-from-two in Singapore. The former Australian won very easily at his Singapore debut in maiden company and given the lack of depth in this Class 4 field, he will go out short in the betting and looks hard to beat. The seemingly out of form BIGDINERO may be the danger. The 7YO has been putting in some solid turf runs at his last two starts and given he is a better winning prospect on the Poly he could show up with blinkers removed. As mentioned there is a lack of depth to this race but COURT CASE has looked like winning of late and goes close if he gets any luck from the wide gate while HELEN will keep them honest and is a must for exotics.

1 BIGDINERO *** Form better than it reads and appreciates being back on the Poly with blinkers off. 20
2 GOLDEN CASINO ** Should need longer but in form and will be closing late. 12
3 CONILAD *** Won like a good thing on debut and subsequent trial suggests he goes on with the job. 3.00
4 SILVER POWER ** Improved lengths last start when headgear removed and pay to keep safe with tongue-tie off. 8.00
5 COURT CASE *** Awkwardly drawn but going along in good order an wins one of these soon. 6.00
6 HELEN ** Has been tested at this level previously always a show this trip. 8.00
7 LIM’S CASINO * Needs easier. 50
8 ARROWHEAD * No. 100
9 MAN OF POWER * Resuming and no. 100
10 SATELLITE POWER * No. 200
