Winning form is almost always good form and there looks a few horses ready to carry on their winning ways in Singapore on Sunday.

One of the best looks WAR LORD in suitable Kranji Stakes D company over 1400m (race 8). The 5YO had been disappointing for supporters of late but got the job done very well when blinkers were added last start and no reason the gelding can’t win again with Lisa Allpress staying on-board.

In the lucky last, SPANISH TRAIN will get plenty of support to make it two wins from as many career starts. The 3YO absolutely blitzed them on debut and given the horse that finished second – GADAWON (with daylight third) – has subsequently won, he could be a good thing with plenty of support.

In his way though is another last start winner in LADY ROULETTE. The speedy mare has had some 10 starts for only two career wins but given S Noh was onboard on both of those occasions, she will give SPANISH TRAIN something to catch. LIVELY DRAGON (race 9) is the other last start winner that is worth following and he too could be a nice punting option in this Poly sprint given he has won three and finished closeup once at four starts on the all-weather track.

Best Bets; (WAR AFFAIR race 8, win), (SPANISH BAY race 11, win) and (BIGCAT RHAPSODY race 10, value).

Race 8

Selections; 8 WAR LORD – 3 UNIQUE ONE – 7 MISTER CANDY – 10 RETROSPECT
A very ordinary KSD over 1400m on turf which should give WAR LORD a good chance to go back-to-back. He won a stronger one than this last start over the same distance and only goes up 1.5kg so he should be hard to beat. UNIQUE ONE came from last to win his Maiden last start, if he can repeat he will be in the finish. SUPER SIX has been racing well and put in a very good performance on the poly last start when caught wide. His maiden win was at this trip and although awkwardly drawn if he can get across with cover will be running on strongly. MISTER CANDY has speed but is also poorly drawn; if he can get a soft run will be hard to pass. There is little depth in this race and if RETROSPECT is improved from his first-up run he could play a part in the finish – prior to spelling he won one of these and this field is not strong. Any of the others could figure in the exotics.

1 FABER HEIGHTS ** Distanced but ran on well last start when blinkers added. Draw a concern 12
2 FAT BOBO * Long time since he has done anything useful. 33
3 UNIQUE ONE *** Came from last to win last start this trip. If he can repeat will be in the finish. 4.50
4 GOOD LOOUKEN * Untrustworthy and never placed on turf. 33
5 HARDEN UP * Getting down in grade but hasn’t been doing enough. 20
6 HIPPO VENTURA ** Maiden taking on tougher company here but showed enough at Singapore debut to follow. 16
7 MISTER CANDY *** Has speed but poorly drawn. If he can get a soft run will be hard to pass over what is a suitable trip. 8.00
8 WAR LORD *** Won easily enough this trip to suggest he can repeat in this grade. Rises 1.5kg in weight. 3.50
9 LET’S TALK NOW ** Battles away and has the bonus of the ace. Yet to win on turf but has placed six times. 12
10 RETROSPECT *** Had excuses when resuming and won one of these two starts back. Watch for support. 12
11 SUPER SIX *** Caught wide and ran on very well on poly last start. Won maiden at this trip and should race well despite barrier and rider change. 7.00
12 GRAND VITESS * Battles away but poorly drawn and better in Class 5. 20
13 YOUNG LADY * Blinkers on. Form too poor to consider. 33
14 SHENZHOU ONE * Not a mile away last start in weak maiden but looks impossible from the draw. 50
15 GREENBACK ** Ran on well on poly last start. Only win was on turf and could show up. 14
16 ONE DOLLAR BETTER * Blinkers on but may need more than that. 50

Race 9

Selections; 8 LIVELY DRAGON – 4 HONEST TRUTH – 3 GATO NEGRO – 2 FLASH GIFT
A KSC over 1000m on the polytrack and expect a mad dash to the first bend. LIVELY DRAGON is a fast horse up in grade but will give a bold sight. In fact given he has only missed a place once in six starts (over a mile at Group 1 level) and his three wins have been Poly sprints, he looks up to this. His last start win was impressive and Santana stays on which is also a factor. Plenty of others to watch. FLASH GIFT will enjoy being back on poly in this grade; he is poorly drawn but gets a claim for Zuriman and has enough speed to cross and lead. One of the main protagonists may be GATO NEGRO, he is well drawn and will be on the speed for a long way. HONEST TRUTH is fast horse who goes best when kept fresh, he showed plenty of speed and fought on strongly this trip last outing and from the good gate should give a sight. After this the field falls away though the mare SCRAT, CORONET PEAK and the unpredictable HARD STUFF could get into the mix.

1 HARD STUFF ** Last two efforts poor but has won twice at this trip and could be closing late. 14
2 FLASH GIFT *** Will enjoy being back on poly and in this grade. Poorly drawn but gets a claim and has enough speed to cross and lead. 8.00
3 GATO NEGRO *** Well drawn and will be on the speed for a long way. 3.00
4 HONEST TRUTH *** Fast horse who goes best when kept fresh. Showed plenty of speed and fought on strongly this trip last outing and from the good gate should give a sight. 3.50
5 CORONET PEAK ** Good on his day but has struggled last few outings and may find these too sharp. 14
6 SECRET MISSION ** Form better than it reads and might add value. 33
7 TOUCH OF GOLD * Hasn’t won for a long time but will work into this late. 16
8 LIVELY DRAGON *** Fast horse up in grade but will give a bold sight. 8.00
9 EXQUISITELY SWEET ** Won KSD over 1200m last start so exotics best in this field. 16
10 SUPERB SUCCESS * Recent efforts ordinary and may want easier. 25
11 SCRAT ** Speedy mare up in grade and poorly drawn. Will give a sight but this may be too hard. 16
12 LIVE IN HOPE * Outclassed. 33

Race 10

Selections; 1 SUPER VOICE – 3 BIGCAT RHAPSODY – 4 POWERFUL FIGHTER – 5 MONEY KING
A tricky KSD over 1700m on the poly with a few likely ones amongst a bunch of unreliables. SUPER VOICE has been run down at past two outings over shorter trips. But he has won at 1700m and should be able to cross, lead and be hard to run down. BIG CAT RHAPSODY trialled well recently and is in the right grade over a suitable distance – he should be ready to race at his best. MONEY KING was placed in Class 5 two starts back over this trip and the put in a good effort on turf over 1400m in KSD company; he should be right in the finish. There are a few possible “smokeys” in this and a market watch is advised. The blinkers go on VANTAGE and his only win came with headgear – he is now up to a suitable distance. Likewise BROWNE’S ANATOMY has been running home strongly over shorter journeys and gets up to a suitable trip. QUALITASE has the amazing record of two from two at this journey, he has been freshened after having numerous runs over shorter journeys. The resuming POWERFUL FIGHTER could also show up as his form last campaign was very good.

1 SUPER VOICE *** Run down at past two outings over shorter trips . Has won at 1700m and will cross from the wide gate, lead and be hard to run down. 4.00
2 DARK PULSE * Visor on. Has been disappointing of late and needs to improve. 16
3 BIGCAT RHAPSODY *** Trialled well recently and in the right grade over a suitable distance. Keep very safe. 6.00
4 POWERFUL FIGHTER *** Resuming. Was racing well before let up and could show up in this. Watch market. 12
5 MONEY KING *** Placed in Class 5 two starts back over this trip. Good effort on turf over 1400m this grade last start keeps him under notice. 6.00
6 GALAXY EXPRESS ** Disappointed last start. Dropping back in trip. Only win was at a mile so take on trust. 10
7 SILVER FLY * Won maiden three starts back over 1700m but more comfortable in Class 5. 20
8 BROWNE’S ANATOMY *** Ran on very strongly over 1100m last start. Up to a suitable distance and could be hard to hold out. Watch market. 6.50
9 VANTAGE ** Blinkers on and only win came with headgear. Up to a suitable distance. Watch for support. 10
10 WINNING SUCCESS * Recent form ordinary but knows how to win and could show up, May go forward from the ace. 25
11 GANBATTE GANBATTE * Better in Class 5. 33
12 QUALITASE ** Has been freshened. Has not won for a long time but only two tries at this distance have been wins. Watch market. 10
13 DOS EQUIS * Wants easier. 33
14 FANTASTIC BOY * No. 50

Race 11

Selections; 7 SPANISH BAY – 2 LADY ROULETTE – 1 FARETTI – 8 SEBROSE
A good Class 4 over 1200m on the turf and the speedy LADY ROULETTE will give them something to catch. S Noh has ridden the mare twice for two wins and he will again try to make every post a winner again. The one chasing will be SPANISH BAY who bolted in on debut. The 3YO is up 3.5 kg but will be hard to hold off late and given the form from that maiden has been franked by GADAWON, he will be short in the betting but hard to beat. The depth falls away after this pair. ASSERTIVE LAD ran on fairly over 1100m on the poly last start; he is better suited in this and should race well. SEBROSE won in the Stewards Room last outing, his previous form was consistent and he should be in the finish. FARETTI’s claim to fame is as the last leg of Joao’s Magic Eight, he has since changed stables and his recent trial indicates he may be ready to improve. MOUNT KINABALU has been disappointing since his maiden win but the tongue tie goes on and he has the ace and John Powell to help him improve.

1 FARETTI *** Has changed stable and looked good winning trial recently. Only win was as the last leg of Joao’s Magic Eight. Could show up. Watch market. 13
2 LADY ROULETTE *** Up in grade but very speedy and will be hard to run down with winning hoop, S Noh, on-board. 6.00
3 AMAZON GOLD ** Well beaten last start after maiden win. Competitive but might want slightly easier. 12
4 HOW HUGE ** Blinkers off after poor singapore debut. Keep safe on trial form. 16
5 MOUNT KINABALU ** Tongue tie on. Failed at two outings since winning maiden. Take on trust. 20
6 RED RIVER ROCK ** Nailed late last start but best efforts have been on poly. 20
7 SPANISH BAY *** Bolted in on debut and that form has been franked. Up 3.5kg but will be hard to hold off. 2.00
8 SEBROSE *** Resuming after winning in the Stewards Room last time but was racing consistently prior and should get a nice run from the gate. 8.00
9 ASSERTIVE LAD *** Resuming. Ran on fairly over 1100m on the poly last start, better suited in this and should race well. 8.00
10 ACOUSTIC * Last run better than the result but needs easier. 33
11 OCEAN POWER ** Maiden but appreciates first-up run and worth thought at value. 33
