Bogart looks ready to win (Pic by Singapore Turf Club)

While this card doesn’t go close to the quality or depth of last Sunday’s double feature meeting, it will certainly have it moments and BOGART in race 10 might be one of them. The 4YO is a model of consistency winning four and placing another seven from some 15 career starts and his two runs in 2015 suggests he can add to that win tally. He does meet a very solid Class 3 field but the 1400m looks ideal and Corey Brown will have every chance jumping from gate 4 on the Long Course (C).

The bonny mare TAFFETAS does look the main danger although THESE STREETS is certainly better than what he showed last start and down the weights, KNIGHT WAGER and AERO WINGS JUNIOR both should provide value.

As usual, leading hoop Manny Nunes should go home with multiple winners and he looks well-placed ifrontad-singapore-airlines-cup_140x120n races 8 (ZENZERO) and 9 (STICK SEEKER) for back-to-back victories. STICK SEEKER in particular looks due after two very good runs since arriving from Australia and gets his chance over 1200m with the 3YO NZ-bred gelding, SECRET WEAPON, the danger.

Race 8

Selections; 3 ZENZERO – 4 DOUBLE JEOPARDY – 7 NICE HAT TRICK – 1 NINETYSEVENSUCCESS
A Maiden over 1600m on the polytrack and a few of these have been trying for a while. ZENZERO has placed three from six on the poly and twice at this journey; he will be battling away late with Nunes staying onboard. DOUBLE JEOPARDY has been placed seven from nine on the poly and with Shafiq’s claim he will carry only 54.5kg and gets yet another chance to break through. GENERAL CONATUS is another who battles away at the distance and regularly places. NINETYSEVENSUCCESS has also placed at both poly starts and this distance could suit. Others that could show up include NICE HAT TRICK who improved with blinkers last start, LADY POWER and if it gets a run, the emergency CHI LIN.

1 NINETYSEVENSUCCESS *** Winkers off/tongue-tie on. Enjoys this surface, placed last start and could be suited at this journey. 6.00
2 SOUTHERN ADMIRAL * Blinkers on but needs more than that. 33
3 ZENZERO *** Battles away and will handy throughout from the good gate. 4.00
4 DOUBLE JEOPARDY *** Yet to win but rarely misses a place. Will be in the finish once again. 4.00
5 FOREVER BEST ** Excuses when not far away last start but yet to place in eight outings. 12
6 MOON OF NEPTUNE * Yet to place in eight outings but not a mile away last start and extra distance may help. 16
7 NICE HAT TRICK *** Improved dramatically last start with blinkers and could go on with it. 10
8 GENERAL CONATUS *** Rarely far away and should get in the finish. 5.00
9 KNIGHT’S CHARISMA * Done nothing in eight outings. 50
10 LADY POWER ** Occasionally shows up and can get in the finish. 14
11 CLASSIC THUNDER ** Has been trying for a long time but could be running on late. 25
12 PESCATORE * Only battles. 33
13 FLYING NEKO * Needs to improve. 33
14 CHI LIN ** Rarely far away and suited at this distance. 10

Race 9

Selections; 2 STICK SEEKER – 12 SECRET WEAPON – 4 DRAGON BOBO – 11 MEGUSTO
Another tricky one, an Initiation over 1200m on turf with plenty of unknown commodities. STICK SEEKER has been close up at both outings since arriving from Australia and THE BLACK KNIGHT has also performed well at his only two outings. They both look to have further improvement. SECRET WEAPON debuted well and his subsequent trial was solid; he should be prominent throughout. DRAGON BOBO has shown up at his three previous starts although his recent trial was only fair and he has a challenging gate. JOYOUS will enjoy getting back on turf and amongst the first starters, CHIPS, JOE SWIPER and MEGUSTO have been trialling solidly and are worthy of a market watch with the latter the early pick on paper.

1 GOLDEN STAR * Recent trials have been fair but has shown nothing to date. 33
2 STICK SEEKER *** Close up at both outings since arriving from Australia. Should be hard to beat. 4.50
3 LUCKY COIN * Placed at Newcastle over 1500m – his only placing in eight starts. Trials have been just fair. Watch for support. 12
4 DRAGON BOBO *** Resuming after a couple of good placings with support. Goes close. 12
5 JOYOUS ** Failed on poly but better suited here. 12
6 NOTNOWTOMORROW * Blinkers off, tongue tie on. Needs to improve. 33
7 THE BLACK KNIGHT *** Close up at both outings and should continue to improve. 4.50
8 CHIPS ** By Strategic Image. Dam won at 1400m. Had several trials in NZ and trials in Singapore have been solid. Watch for support. 12
9 GOLD STRIKER * Resuming. Needs to improve on debut effort. 33
10 JOE SWIPER ** By Cecconi. Dam won twice up to 1400m. Had a couple of trials in NZ and has trialled soundly in Singapore. Watch market. 14
11 MEGUSTO *** By Bon Hoffa. Dam won twice up to 2100m. Poorly drawn but trials nicely. Watch for support. 14
12 SECRET WEAPON *** Debuted well and subsequent trial was solid. Should be prominent throughout. 4.50
13 FALKIRK LEAD * Never likely at debut. Needs to improve. 33
14 SPACE ODDITY * Showed speed but weakened at debut. Could improve. 25
15 TRECRATIC * Form ordinary. Needs to do more.

Race 10

Selections; 1 BOGART – 3 TAFFETAS – 11 KNIGHT WAGER – 12 AERO WINGS JUNIOR
A Class 3 over 1400m on the turf. BOGART Is very honest at this level and should be prominent throughout. His two runs in 2015 with blinkers added have been good and he looks ready to win with Corey Brown on from gate 4. The mare TAFFETAS found 1700m and the poly not to her liking last outing, she had previously been racing well in higher grade and with the claim for Harry Kasim should be hard to hold out. THESE STREETS disappointed last start but this distance is more suitable and he should make his presence felt. Many of the others despite being in good form are up in grade or distance. These include AERO WINGS JUNIOR who has yet to be tested beyond 1200m, and horses such as KNIGHT WAGER, VERTICAL START and KATE’S KEEPER who handle the journey well but can be tested at the grade. LIGN’EM UP and LASER STORM have good winning records but prefer the poly.

1 BOGART *** Tongue tie on. Rarely runs a bad race and will be prominent throughout. 4.50
2 MR ARMSTRONG * Resuming after bleeding attack. Recent trial was good but best form is over longer. 16
3 TAFFETAS *** Honest mare who will find this more suitable than recent outings. Trialled well recently and should be closing late. 5.50
4 THESE STREETS *** Disappointed last start but previous form was solid and this distance is more suitable. 6.50
5 LASER STORM ** Runs on but best form is on poly. 14
6 TIGER MASTER * Form of late has been ordinary. 33
7 TOM * Needs to improve on recent efforts. 33
8 VERTICAL START ** Never likely last start but is better suited this trip. Could be running on late. 12
9 GUARICANA * Only battled last start and needs to do more. 33
10 KATE’S KEEPER ** Gave them too big a start last outing. May want longer but can improve. 14
11 KNIGHT WAGER *** In good form. Up in grade and poorly drawn but suited at the journey. 8.00
12 AERO WINGS JUNIOR *** Up in grade but in top form. Turf form a query but recent trial very good. 8.00
13 HAMMER DOWN * Getting down in ratings but needs to improve on recent efforts. 25
14 LIGN EM UP ** Racing well in weaker company but best form is on poly. 14
15 STRAIGHTTOTHEPOINT ** Made up good ground late last start but 1400m can test. 14

Race 11

Selections; 3 PUSAKA – 2 MR CONNERY – 4 IMPERIAL FIGHTER – 11 TWODOLLARMUPPET
Unusually, a KSD over 1800m on turf concludes the programme. Most of the contenders are honest journeymen but PUSAKA is young horse who ran on strongly in a good Novice last start and should be suited at 1800m. The 3YO MR CONNERY falls into a similar category; he is yet to place on turf but runs on and the 1800m looks highly suitable. Nunes and a good recent trial in his favour. Amongst the older brigade, MINI BOSS can be erratic but the distance suits, IMPERIAL FIGHTER battled on well last start on the poly and is better suited on turf, PRINCE MAG, PINYIN and OVER EASY are dour fellows who will battle away. Keep the maiden LIM’S MIRAGE safe as he is up to this company and TWODOLLARMUPPET showed enough two starts back with Juglall to follow at odds.

1 MINI BOSS *** Ran on strongly over 1900m on poly last start. Can be erratic but only win was over a mile on turf and should be suited here. 5.00
2 MR CONNERY *** Blinkers off. Yet to place on turf but looks suited at the journey and recent trial looked good. 5.00
3 PUSAKA *** Ran on well in a good Novice last start and should be suited at 1800m. 5.00
4 IMPERIAL FIGHTER *** Battled away well over 1900m on poly last start and better suited on turf and this company. Can show up. 10
5 ZIPANGU ** Grinds away and suited this grade and surface. Can get in the finish. 12
6 PINYIN ** Missed the start and had to do too much work last start. Battles away and can get in the finish. 8.00
7 PRINCE MAG ** Blinkers off. Dour and will be battling away late. 14
8 FLAWLESSLY * Has been disappointing and need to improve. 33
9 TONGARIRO ** Battled away on poly last start and better suited on turf. Unknown at the distance. 14
10 OVER EASY ** Iron horse who races every fortnight and will be thereabouts throughout. 14
11 TWODOLLARMUPPET *** Ran on well for this hoop in this company two back and will be value. 33
12 LIM’S MIRAGE *** Blinkers off. Maiden but has shown he is up to this company and right in this. 20
13 GOLDEN JADE ** Won in Class 5 last start on poly but this is harder. 20
14 BECOME RICH * Wants easier. 50
15 SHENZHOU ONE ** Maiden who plods on and could get in the finish. 33
16 WINNING SUCCESS * Will find this too hard. 50
