Singapore Racing – Sunday

Sunday 9 June

Super Easy

Super Easy and Joao Moreira on their way to one of their 12 straight wins in Singapore – Singapore Racing 30-03-12

They don’t come much better than SUPER EASY in Singapore. Undefeated as a 3YO, SUPER EASY took on the world in the latter part of 2012 and while he found it tough at the highest level in Hong Kong, his career domestic record is impeccable winning 13 from 15 career starts. And when you consider his only two defeats against local horses were more than honourable and he comes off a gallant placing in the KrisFlyer Sprint, the Darci Brahma entire is something special. His opposition in Sunday’s Stewards’ Cup won’t be happy to hear he is also undefeated over 1400m. At the set-weights conditions, it’s hard to see him getting beat. But he has drawn wide and never wins by huge margins, so there is hope for the likes of SPEEDY CAT, EL PADRINO, EL MILAGRO, CITY LAD, CASH LUCK even the lowest rated horse in the race, WILD GEESE. Throw a new-comer from Australia into the mix – ACCELAROMETER – and the race does have plenty of interest but only a fool would be backing against SUPER EASY.

Race 8

Selections; 2 CLARITY – 1 LUCKY COME – 3 MY TRICIA – 9 ZAC SUPREME
Not a lot to get excited about in this maiden but a few horses have been going along OK and should figure in the finish. I like the fact CLARITY has been racing in better company than this and her third to EMPRESS WU in a fillies and mares race should hold up here. Barend Vorster was onboard that day so his booking looks a bonus and a win would not surprise. The most consistent horse in the field is LUCKY COME and he should win sooner than later. The wide gate is some concern over this trip but it might encourage an aggressive ride by Willy Tan and his 3kg claim might be a factor late. Conversely, MY TRICIA comes under notice after drawing perfectly in gate one and Joao Moreira on ZAC SUPREME suggests support and a solid run. JAWARA and STEALTH FIGHTER two others to include.

1 LUCKY COME *** Ready to win but might need to work hard from wide gate. 3.00
2 CLARITY *** Finds this a lot easier than Class 4 company; big show. 4.00
3 MY TRICIA *** Has pace and very much appreciates gate one; goes close with tongue-tie off. 8.00
4 SOARING WIN ** Not far away last start at long odds; include in exotics. 20
5 GERMAN ROULETTE * Appreciates maiden company but needs to lift. 50
6 JAWARA *** Showed pace when blinkers added last start and back in trip suits. 20
7 STEALTH FIGHTER *** Excuses last start but thereabouts as a rule this type of race; keep safe. 12
8 DARCISTAR ** Resuming after disappointing with support over longer last campaign; blinkers on but hard to have. 20
9 ZAC SUPREME *** Likes the Poly and will figure somewhere in this field. 4.00
10 RECYCLE GOLD * No. 100
11 AL-HAMID * Resuming after poor run; no. 50
12 KING OF LOTUS * Long-time maiden resuming; minor place at very best. 50

Race 9

Selections; 1 SUPER EASY – 2 SPEEDY CAT – 4 EL PADRINO – 7 CITY LAD
SUPER EASY is a star. A well-deserved placing in International company in the KrisFlyer Sprint at his last run suggests he is bang-in-form and hard to see him getting beat here. His domestic record stands at 13 wins from 15 starts and given he is undefeated over 1400m and also undefeated against his own age group, it does beg the question; who beats him? Or more pertinent for punters, who runs second? At the set-weight conditions it always pays to follow ratings and SPEEDY CAT at 108 suggests he is most likely to challenge SUPER EASY. The NZ-bred gelding was certainly not disgraced in the KrisFlyer and certainly in the mix late. EL PADRINO has won twice over this trip and given he won in Dubai, he certainly handles the occasion and might be the value runner as will the likes of the underrated CITY LAD and WILD GEESE who might step up although being the lowest rated horse in the field. Former Perth galloper, ACCELAROMETER, is the wild-card and given his good trial form since arriving, a market watch is in order for the four-time winner.

1 SUPER EASY *** Star of Singapore racing and extremely hard to beat against his own agegroup. 2.00
2 SPEEDY CAT ** Holds his own in this company and has won over the trip; in the mix. 5.00
3 EL MILAGRO ** Won over this trip four starts back and in this a long way. 8.00
4 EL PADRINO ** Has ability and two of six wins over this trip – one of those in Dubai; keep safe. 12
5 CASH LUCK ** Resuming. Has first up form over this trip and recent trial very good; include in exotics. 12
6 SHUTTLE MAN * Won two starts back but not sure he is back to his best. 33
7 CITY LAD ** Underrated and will be competitive but probably found out at set-weights. 33
8 DAMO ** Won three out of his last four but this is a leap of faith Class wise. 33
9 ACCELAROMETER ** Four-time winner from Western Australia; tough ask at local debut but looks good on the track. 10
10 TOTALITY * Recent Group win was at handicap conditions and hard to have. 33
11 WILD GEESE ** Has looked very promising winning two from two in Singapore; huge step up in Class but could sneak a place. 12

Race 10

Selections; 2 FLANEUR – 1 BEAUTIFUL WORLD – 5 GOLDEN LARK – 3 PURE RABID
Hopefully Joao Moreira is on a high after a win on SUPER EASY and he can use that positive energy to get FLANEUR to win. But given the 6YO has only won once from 30 starts in Singapore, that is a tough ask. But he has drawn gate one, will enjoy the company and if not today, then when? BEAUTIFUL WORLD might have been a good thing if drawn more favourably. The 5YO has won three from 17 and given the form he has been in of late, he wins again sooner than later. But he will need luck from the wide gate and a very aggressive ride is expected. Of the rest, the proverbial blanket goes over PURE RABID, FLYING AHEAD, GOLDEN LARK, RADIANT ROI and both emergencies – SEASONS WONDER and SUPER STAR -if they get a start.

1 BEAUTIFUL WORLD *** Drawn badly but due and must go close. 6.00
2 FLANEUR *** Doesn’t win out of turn but gate one and Moreira in what looks a suitable race is a good combination. 3.00
3 PURE RABID *** Maiden win over this trip and showed last start he will be competitive this company. 6.00
4 FLYING AHEAD *** This is tougher than his last start win but will pay to follow. 6.00
5 GOLDEN LARK *** Good late last start and back up in trip a good move; each-way. 8.00
6 CAN’T TOUCH ME ** Thereabouts as a rule but will need some luck from awkward draw. 12
7 SILENT POWER ** Got half the chocolates in a weak Class 5 race last start; exotics. 12
8 KTRONIC ** Back on the Poly a good move and improves on recent runs. 14
9 RADIANT ROI *** Broke maiden status over this trip in Class 5 last start; keep safe with gate two a bonus. 12
10 URBAN LEGEND * No. 200
11 NEWFOUNDFAME * No. 200
12 EIGHTH AVENUE * OK on his day but recent form terrible. 100
13 SEASONS WONDER *** Backed up maiden win with a solid placing this company; exotics. 12
14 SUPER STAR *** In-form and more than happy to follow each-way. 12

Race 11

Selections; 2 SUPERNOVA – 1 SOLITAIRE – 9 WORK AHEAD – 4 SELECT GATHERING
A wide gate did make for a second look but SUPERNOVA still looks the one to beat in this BM67 Poly sprint. The lightly-raced 4YO has an impressive career record of three wins from five career starts and the experienced Corey Brown – who won on him last start – should give him every chance from the bad draw. But SOLITAIRE bumped into a smart one in Pioneer Seven last time out and is certainly due. A handy 3kg claim and a good gate suggests he is the one SUPERNOVA might have to pass late and a solid run is expected. WORK AHEAD is also in the mix after showing plenty last start from a bad gate. From barrier three, he should be handy throughout and keeps the top two honest. SELECT GATHERING gets Moreira and more importantly is back on the Poly so expect support and a good run. The race has depth with SEIZE THE DAY the value.

1 SOLITAIRE *** Ran into a smart one last start and goes mighty close in this with a handy 3kg claim. 4.00
2 SUPERNOVA *** Progressive 4YO who has won three from five; can win despite awkward draw. 3.00
3 SEIZE THE DAY ** Form better than it reads and happy to follow at long odds. 33
4 SELECT GATHERING *** Happy to ignore last run as switch to Poly has him in the winning mix. 5.00
5 CHATEAUNEUF DUPAPE ** Goes OK on his day and this race suitable to show his best. 16
6 ROYAL STYLE ** Three career wins on this surface and pay to follow while in form. 12
7 ZAFONIC STAR ** Resuming and always some show this type of race with gate one a bonus. 20
8 SULMONA ** Showed her best last start and pay to follow at likely each-way value. 20
9 WORK AHEAD *** Did it tough last start and the run good enough to think he goes close here. 6.00
10 FARETTI ** Improves on what was a solid Singapore debut run; market watch in order. 20
11 FUMIKO * Form OK but like to see in Class 5. 100
12 SMITTEN KITTEN ** Another eligible for easier company but can make her presence late. 100

Race 12

Selections; 7 OM – 6 MARCUSINO – 9 DANNY – 1 MEAISIN
No doubt about it, OM can disappoint. Beaten as the odds-on pop on more than one occasion, the half-brother to Better Then Ever, broke his maiden status in fine style two starts back before getting into more trouble than Oscar Pistorius at his last start. He should have won that day and can make amends here for followers in what is a suitable race with gate two a bonus. MARCUSINO hasn’t fared as well at the gates as OM but his form has him winning sooner than later and pay to keep safe. DANNY is value – always is – and happy to include him in the top three or four picks and an each-way special over 1400m. MEAISIN looks suited and a big run would not surprise and don’t leave out PENSAMIENTO first-up and MEDIA CAPTAIN.

1 MEAISIN *** Thereabouts without a result but this looks suitable; keep safe. 6.00
2 BLUE LION ** Former Australian who looks solid enough to make use to make good use of gate one at Singapore debut. 12
3 FUNCA * Backing up after usually thereabout run last start; not for me. 33
4 PENSAMIENTO *** Resuming and while form from last campaign reads badly, the race is suitable and has good first-up form; value. 12
5 AFTERNOON DELIGHT ** Better than what his form suggests and the type that could pop up at long-odds with winkers removed. 100
6 MARCUSINO *** Drawn awkwardly but is due and pay to follow. 5.00
7 OM *** Looked a good thing beaten last start and this race ideal; hard to beat. 2.50
8 WAR LORD ** Pay to ignore last couple in the 3YO series and take on good Class 4 form prior. 20
9 DANNY *** Excuses not to finish closer last start and always worth an each-way look in this type of race. 33
10 GOLDEN DOMINATOR ** Never involved last start but run prior OK; long-shot. 200
11 MEDIA CAPTAIN *** Not far away in OK company last start and certainly in the mix in this field. 8.00
12 BUNGAE * Appreciates the handicap conditions but happy to wait for Class 5. 200
13 FUKU ICHIBAN ** Solid effort stepping up to this Class last start; include in exotics. 20
14 VICTORY WINGS ** Form starting to read badly but goes oK on his day and another that could surprise. 20
15 GREEN JACKET *** Fresh and in-form with step up to 1400m ideal. 12
16 VOLKOV * Better suited Poly. 100
