Yvette Bremner’s yard have been the East Cape newsmakers for all the saddest of reasons in 2020 but the Dippin Blu team had lots to celebrate at Fairview on Friday when their classy Aussie-bred Sir Frenchie rounded off the Pick 6 in style under Fat Frank-sponsored Wayne Agrella.

Leading owner Braam van Huyssteen, who races the son of Choisir in partnership with Australia-based Billy Henderson, was doing cartwheels in the parade ring after a gutsy victory by the former Snaith-trained gelding, who stormed home in the 1400m Pinnacle Stakes under top weight of 62kgs.
Stablemate Mangrove, running over a distance short of his best in the same silks, made the pace under Richard Fourie and this created the platform for Sir Frenchie (16-10) to run on smartly to a length victory in time of 83,95 secs.
Bold Viking (16-1) was a head back in third.
Van Huyssteen, who has enjoyed big winners across the country, and the distinction of winning South Africa’s premier race, the Sun Met, admitted he had ‘never been so nervous’ before a race. He probably hasn’t led many winners in under armed guard either!

“I am just thrilled for Yvette Bremner and her team and Hedley McGrath, who has lost kilo’s mucking out stables. Maybe I will join them tomorrow,” he laughed as he urged a resolution to the unfortunate state of affairs that have seen the top yard’s workforce cut to a nominal amount after an incident in mid February.
An A$82 500 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase for Paul Lafferty from the Attunga Stud draft, Sir Frenchie is by Coolmore stallion Choisir (Danehill Dancer) and was the first winner for four-time winning Viscount mare Volando.

He was resold here on the 2016 CTS Cape Ready To Run Sale for R500 000 and took his stakes bank today to R 106 825 with his 12th win and 9 places from 34 starts.
