Speed On Sunday

Sunday 19 February in Singapore

CONFLIGHT Trialling very well and can win this. (Pic by Singapore Turf Club)

A solid days racing headlined by an extremely strong Class 3 sprint which features a couple of very smart types resuming in CYBORG and CONFLIGHT.

The pair look destined for bigger and better races than this and indeed CONFLIGHT already has a 3YO Group win to his name and CYBORG had an early crack at Group level in the same series.

Both horses ran into a nice one in Debt Collector and while CONFLIGHT – who won the first leg over 1200m – went straight for a spell, CYBORG won another couple before heading to the paddock.

Those wins took CYBORG’s tally to four wins from seven career starts while CONFLIGHT also has four wins from nine starts.

The track watchers have reported good hit outs from the pair in preparation for their respective return with perhaps CONFLIGHT looking to be doing it a tad easier at his recent trial.

It is by no means a two horse race – anything but – with the likes of GRAND CROSS and DISTINCTIVE DARCI winning more than not of late while ARAMCO and LIGHTNING FAST are in cracking form and can also win.

The race is a beauty on paper and shouldn’t disappoint on Sunday.

Best Bets: (LIM’S BULLET race 7, win), (CONFLIGHT race 9, each-way) and (RIKIOH race 8, value).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 8 (1, 3, 4, 5 and 8), race 9 (1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 12), race 10 (1, 2, 3 and 14) and race 11 (1, 2, 4, 6, 7 and 9).

Race 5

Selections; 4 LUCKY MISSION – 5 FAST EDITION – 2 HIGH COUNCIL – 1 RIVER GOLD
A competitive KSD over 1200m. LUCKY MISSION is suited by this class and distance, his recent form is sound and he should be hard to hold out. FAST EDITION’s only wins have been at this trip and he will appreciate being back on turf with a senior rider; he should be in the finish. STAR STRIKE improved last start, his only win was at 1200m and he should be closing late. EURO ZONE will find this easier than his past two outings, he is suited on turf and can be prominent. PERFECT COMMANDO led and fought on in Class 4 last start after a Class 5 win; he could give a sight. Others that could show up include RIVER GOLD who won his Maiden on the poly last start and HIGH COUNCIL who placed over 1400m last start in this company and has won twice at the trip.

1 RIVER GOLD *** Won Maiden narrowly on poly last start. This is harder but should be handy throughout. 10
2 HIGH COUNCIL *** Blinkers off. Placed over 1400m last start in this company and has won twice at the trip. Could show up. 10
3 SUN SEEKER * Improved last start and should find this Company to his liking. Market watch. 33
4 LUCKY MISSION *** Suited this class and distance and showed last start the turf is his caper. Should be hard to hold out. 4.00
5 FAST EDITION *** Resuming after long break. Only wins have been at this trip and will appreciate turf with senior rider. Should be in the finish with winkers added. 4.00
6 STAR STRIKE ** Improved last start and only win was at 1200m. Should be closing late. 8.00
7 EURO ZONE ** Will find this easier than past two outings. Suited on turf and can be prominent. 8.00
8 PERFECT COMMANDO ** Led and fought on in Class 4 last start after Class 5 win. Could show up. 8.00
9 SOON YI * Has won in this class and ran on solidly in Class 4 last start. May prefer Class 5 but could be running on. 16
10 MISS WAIMATAITAI ** Struggled in Class 4 last start but was restless. Give another chance. 20
11 NO SMOKING JEFF * Drops back in trip. Needs longer, poly and Class 5. 33
12 SILK ROUTE * Only win was on poly. Wants easier and longer. 33
13 HEAVENLY HAND * Needs to improve on recent efforts. Only win was over 1000m before arrival. 50

Race 6

Selections; 6 SUPER EIGHT – 7 TURQUOISE SON – 2 DRAGON GOLD – 1 DANNY
An ordinary Class 5 gives SUPER EIGHT a chance; he has been racing soundly, is suited by this distance and should be in the finish with Oscar Chavez to ride. TURQUOISE SON did nothing when resuming but his best efforts have been on turf and he could be running on. DANNY is a 9YO who needs longer but he has won seven races, four on turf and could show up in this very weak field. Amongst others ROMA is always a chance in these weak Class 5’s while DRAGON GOLD and MR BLOSSOM are better on poly but could show up.

1 DANNY ** 9YO who needs longer but has won seven races, four on turf and could show up in this very weak field. 8.00
2 DRAGON GOLD *** Only win was on poly over 1000m two starts back. Has speed and could be prominent. 8.00
3 DRAGON RUBY * Struggled when resuming. Only win was at 1100m on poly. Tested on turf over 1200m. 16
4 NOVA STAR * Recent trial was solid but only win was on poly and turf form is poor. 33
5 CHINA FALCON * Yet to place in 12 starts. 33
6 SUPER EIGHT *** Racing soundly and suited this distance. Should be in the finish. 3.00
7 TURQUOISE SON *** Did nothing when resuming but best efforts have been on turf. Could be running on. 4.50
8 MR BLOSSOM ** Winkers to blinkers but best form is on poly and yet to place in seven turf outings. Distance suits. 8.00
9 SILENT CONNECTION * Did not show up when resuming. Only placing in 17 starts was on turf and that was before arrival. 33
10 SUPER BIG * Yet to place in 17 outings. 33
11 GOLDEN BOBO * Only placing in 11 starts was on poly. 33
12 ROMA * Yet to win on turf but has placed four times and could show up. 16
13 GRAVITY * Hasn’t won since arrival in Singapore but best form is on turf and could surprise. 16
14 RAINBOW STAR * 33 start Maiden yet to place in seven turf starts. 33

Race 7

Selections; 2 LIM’S BULLET – 1 EN CIVIL – 11 QUEEN’S SEVEN – 3 ASTROJET
A moderate quality but competitive Class 4 over 1400m. LIM’S BULLET is racing well since resuming and gets blinker/pacifiers; he steps up to 1400m but should be handy throughout. Down in the weights, QUEEN’S SEVEN is racing well in this grade and is suited at this distance, he should be running on. ASTROJET is racing soundly and suited by this distance; he should be prominent. EN CIVIL drops to his winning grade and the visor goes on. He is better on the poly but has won over this distance and should be handy throughout. Of the others ANCIENT WARRIOR won an Initiation last start and MR CROWE won a KSD; this is harder but it is not a particularly strong field and they could show up.

1 EN CIVIL *** Drops to winning grade and visor goes on. Better on poly but has won over this distance and should be handy throughout. 5.00
2 LIM’S BULLET *** Racing well since resuming and gets blinkers added. Steps up to 1400m should be handy throughout. 4.00
3 ASTROJET *** Racing soundly and suited this distance. Should be prominent. 5.00
4 SPRING THUNDER * Resuming and drops back in trip. Has won twice at this distance but needs to improve. 20
5 ANCIENT WARRIOR ** Narrowly won Initiation after racing wide last start. This is harder but should get a good run throughout. 8.00
6 JOHNNY KONGOS * Blinkers back on after being distanced when resuming. Needs to improve and may prefer poly. 33
7 AUSSIE EAGLE * Has battled since arrival. Only win was in NZ at this trip. Needs to improve. 20
8 BILLY MOJO * Tough to follow but placed over this trip two starts back. Won twice in NZ before arrival and could show up. 14
9 MR CROWE ** Won KSD last start in fine fashion. This is harder but distance suits and pay to respect. 14
10 COLONEL LINCOLN * Recent form ordinary and might need easier. 33
11 QUEEN’S SEVEN *** Excuses not to win last start and often value. Each-way all the way. 6.00
12 SKY ELEVEN * Battled on last start in KSD but wants easier. 20

Race 8

Selections; 3 MAREA NEGRO – 5 VRAAD – 1 RIKIOH – 8 PRETTY ELUSIVE
Nothing jumps off the page to win this Class 5 sprint and that might give the consistent MAREA NEGRO a chance to knock in a win. The 6YO mare gets blinkers added as she drops back intro from 1400m and she will go close in Class 5. VRAAD showed last start that Class 5 and Shafiq is his caper and that combination will be prominent throughout. RIKIOH is the interesting runner. Remarkably the 6YO has only won once is some 27 career starts but is having his first start in Class 5. That is a testament to his honesty and he could easily show up in the bottom grade. Of the others, PRETTY ELUSIVE broke his maiden status last start with Nunes up and pay to keep following while the maiden REWARDING SMILE has certainly shown at his last two starts that Class 5 is his caper so can win.

1 RIKIOH *** Only win was on the Poly but enjoys the turf and will very much appreciate Class 5. 10
2 SILVER POWER ** Nothing last start but gets tongue-tie and drops to winning Class. Improves. 20
3 MAREA NEGRO *** Was doing everything bar win in Class 5 of late and blinkers added may see a result. 4.00
4 REWARDING SMILE *** Maiden who has showed at his last couple that he will win in Class 5 sooner than later. 5.00
5 VRAAD *** Went close in similar affair for this jockey last start and pay to follow. 5.00
6 HELEN * In solid form but yet to win behind 1000m and query on the turf. 12
7 PERCIUS * Thereabouts of late but might find this too short. 20
8 PRETTY ELUSIVE *** Broke maiden status this trip last start and handles the turf so pay to follow. 6.00
9 SUPERTEN ** Can disappoint but cheeky run expected. 20
10 BELIEVE IT OR NOT * Maiden who will improve with racing but may need longer. 33
11 DREAMPITCHER * No. 100
12 GRAND VITESS * Resuming after long break sans blinkers and prefer to watch. 50
13 THE RAID ** Maiden who has been competitive with blinkers off for this. 12

Race 9

Selections; 2 CONFLIGHT – 1 CYBORG – 12 ARAMCO – 3 GRAND CROSS
A cracking race but an extremely difficult one for punters with two of the top picks – CYBORG and CONFLIGHT – resuming after decent spells. Both horses had a crack at Group races as 3YO’s and both found Debt Collector a bridge too far. In saying that, CONFLIGHT won at Group level – the 3YO Sprint – and CYBORG won at his next two starts after the Debt Collector lesson. Both have trialled well enough to win first up with CONFLIGHT probably getting the edge on his nice trial effort. The race has depth though and you can take your pick from the likes of ARAMCO who is a horse to follow through the grades, last start winner GRAND CROSS with DISTINCTIVE DARCI and LIGHTNING FAST also in the winning mix. Keep the emergency MYSTIC MASTER safe is he gets a start.

1 CYBORG *** Very progressive type resuming and trials good enough to win this. 5.00
2 CONFLIGHT *** Resuming. Won 3YO Sprint last preparation. Trialling very well and can win this. 5.00
3 GRAND CROSS *** Hard to fault winning form but blinkers are off for this and will need luck from wide gate. 5.00
4 PIONEER SEVEN * Struggling. 200
5 LIGHTNING FAST *** Having first turf start but just goes too well not to follow with gate 1 a bonus. 7.00
6 VON KRUMM ** Resuming and always some show over 1200m in this Company. 20
7 AWESOME * Struggling of late and better on the Poly. 100
8 DISTINCTIVE DARCI *** Four career wins were on the Poly but more than handles the turf and can win this. 6.00
9 SUPER SIX ** Racing well on the Poly but won maiden on the turf so can include in exotics at odds. 20
10 EXCEED EXPRESS ** Wide gate a concern but recent trial was very good and worth thought. 12
11 HIMALAYA DRAGON * Not a mile away last start on the turf but is a better option on the Poly. 33
12 ARAMCO *** Very promising 4YO who will win races like this and pay to keep following. 7.00
13 JUSTICE FIRST * Needs to show more. 100
14 DARSHINI * Former UK galloper who will need longer to show his best. 100
15 MYSTIC MASTER *** Juvenile Championship winner who has shown he will be competitive in this Company so keep safe.
16 EATONS GOLD ** Not a mile away at odds last start but tested in this Company.

Race 10

Selections; 3 MOMENT OF JUSTICE – 2 GOLDEN KINGDOM – 14 TASSAJARA – 1 AHMAR
An average KSD sprint with only four or so serious hopes. Nothing jumps off the page so MOMENT OF JUSTICE gets his chance after drawing beautifully in gate 1. Like a few of the main hopes, he drops back from 1400m but from the inside alley you would expect G Boss to have him handy enough throughout to have every chance to win. Down in the ratings, TASSAJARA gets his chance. The 7YO hasn’t won in 13 Singapore starts but this field is weak and he shown a liking for the turf and trip. AHMAR with visor added must go close although the wide gate is a concern while last start maiden winner, GOLDEN KINGDOM, will go very close. In fact winning form may very well be the best form for this race.

1 AHMAR *** Drawn awkwardly but gets winkers after just missing over 1400m last start. Goes close. 4.00
2 GOLDEN KINGDOM *** Broke maiden status in good order last start over 1400m and looks up to this. 5.00
3 MOMENT OF JUSTICE *** Another dropping back from 1400m but will make his presence felt throughout from gate 1. 3.00
4 GOLDEN CASINO ** Just fair at his last couple but form prior solid and will add value to exotics. 33
5 APOLLO * Resuming sans blinkers but prefer others. 50
6 NOVA SPIRIT * Reassess over longer on the Poly. 50
7 STIRLING * Company suits but better on the Poly. 33
8 HIKO YUNIKON * Won in Class 5 on the Poly last start and that looks his caper. 12
9 LUCKY SIX * Reassess on the Poly. 33
10 NEO’S CLASSIC * Shown little since maiden win. 33
11 SMART FORTUNE ** Form reads badly but appreciates KSD Company and can improve with blinkers/tongue-tie off. 33
12 CASH BOX * No. 100
13 JOYOUS ** Best runs over 1400m but could run a cheeky race at odds in this weak field. 16
14 TASSAJARA *** Yet to win in Singapore but has shown form on the turf this trip and gets his chance in this field. 6.00

Race 11

Selections; 2 ROCK EAGLE – 6 ZEUS WARRIOR – 1 B’NEVAGIVUP – 9 BLACK THUNDER
A raffle to finish what looked a tough day at the office for punters but given the depth in this field, there should be value on offer. In fact we can make a winning case for eight or more in the 12-horse field so exotics will be tough but profitable. Where to start? ROCK EAGLE ran on well last start in a similar affair and no reason to think he isn’t in the winning mix late. ZEUS WARRIOR has showed enough at two Singapore starts to think blinkers could do the trick so worth a look as is B’NEVAGIVEUP with blinkers to visor down in grade. Too many others to mention but last start winner MR CLOONEY will have admirers, DAMON is always a big show in this type of race while BLACK THUNDER could be the best value of offer.

1 B’NEVAGIVUP *** Blinkers to visor after racing keenly last start and very much appreciates the drop to Class 4. 12
2 ROCK EAGLE *** Ran on very well to place in similar affair last week and hard to hold out in this. 4.00
3 SAND BANK *** Returned not striding last start when supported in a similar affair and could run a very cheeky race. 20
4 DAMON *** Always a winning show in this Company over 1400m and must go close. 6.00
5 MR CLOONEY *** Resumed after spell bigger and stronger to win over this trip in KSD company and pay to follow. 6.00
6 ZEUS WARRIOR *** Former Malaysian who has shown enough to two Singapore starts to win with blinkers added on the back of good trial. 5.00
7 PEER GYNT *** Just missed behind Mr Clooney last start in KSD and pay to follow that form. 8.00
8 SAVAGE STORM ** Not a mile away last start on the Poly and handles the trip and track so keep safe. 16
9 BLACK THUNDER *** In the mix as a rule and often each-way value so pay to follow. 16
10 GET GOING ** Continues to race well without winning and expect much the same. 13
11 DIVERGENT ** Maiden whose best runs have been this trip and another that will add value to exotics. 33
12 COMMODORE LINCOLN ** Should need easier but will be working home late with no weight. 33
