One Year Later…

Avontuur nursery is busy

Just as National Park was announced the Horse Of The Year and the music was being turned up at Fairview last evening, the outgoing East Cape Horse Of The Year Star Burst Galaxy gave birth to a beautiful Oratorio filly foal 1000km away at Avontuur Stud near Somerset West.

The extraordinary timing was not lost on Avontuur GM Pippa Mickleburgh, who was thrilled to announce the birth.

Champion Star Burst Galaxy

“She’s gorgeous. Mum is a champion and was a star for her first foal. She’s now going to Silvano,”said the veteran Breeder, who was also excited to hear that Oratorio’s daughter Carlita had been named Champion 3yo Filly.

Bred by Dr Ian Heyns, Star Burst Galaxy is out of the three-time winning Majestic Star (Doowaley).

Originally purchased off the 2015 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale for R800 000, she changed hands and was trained by Tara Laing for Cape-based Etienne Braun and Paul Loomes.
