Striker Takes Met Ride

Last won the big race in 2003

Multiple SA champion jockey Piere Strydom is the latest jockey to have a Sun Met ride confirmed.

He will partner Justin Snaith’s Saturday Gr2 Peninsula Handicap winner Doublemint in the big race on 26 January. The son of Twice Over is one of six Snaith horses in the entries.

Strydom was aboard Gimmethegreenlight when the son of More Than Ready won the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate for the Snaiths as a 3yo in 2012.

The great rider last won the Met in 2003 when he steered Angus to victory for Plattner Racing private trainer of the time, Brett Crawford.
