De Kock Hones His Summer Tan

Noble Secret - takes step 1 to Summer Cup

The Dynasty gelding Noble Secret confirmed that he is well on track for a crack at the 2018 Summer Cup with a fluent victory at his first run as a 4yo at Turffontein on Saturday.

Mike De Kock

Interestingly, De Kock’s last winner in the Summer Cup was the filly Flirtation, who, like Noble Secret, was ridden by Randall Simons and also ran in the Livanos old gold and royal blue flag when winning in 2010.

Mike de Kock has won the Summer Cup nine times.

Ridden by regular pilot Randall Simons, Noble Secret won the R108 000 Assessment Plate readily – he was 7,5kgs better off than his nearest rival at the weights – at his first run following a 16 week break.

Noble Secret was one of three winners (two for MDK) on the afternoon for Simons, who is growing in confidence in the De Kock team.

Noble Secret last saw action with a third placed effort to Hero’s Honour in the Gr1 SA Derby.

De Kock had indicated earlier that he has the Summer Cup on the roster for Noble Secret, who was placed in all three legs of the SA Triple Crown last term. He could have another run or two before the 1 December feature.

The multiple champion trainer said on his website:

“The good news for Noble Secret is that every horse who beat him during the Triple Crown has been sold or has gone overseas!”

At the big race media launch this week Rob Scott, Tellytrack CEO and Sales & Marketing Executive for Phumelela, invited all Gautengers to the newly sponsored G-BETS Gauteng R2 million Summer Cup, which will take place at Turffontein on 1 December 2018.
