Sun Classique colt sold to Hong Kong

Sun Classique colt

Sun Classique colt by Oasis Dream, sold to Hong Kong for R7million

R7 million rand! The first foal out of UAE and South African champion Sun Classique (Aus) (Fuji Kiseki {Jpn}), is off to Hong Kong after George Moore, the son of legendary trainer John Moore, was extended to A$850,000 (R7 million) for the attractive bay.

The colt is by world leading sire Oasis Dream, sire of SA sires Querari and Main Aim.

Sun Classique was a champion at 3 in South Africa in 2007, where she won the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas, G1 Majorca Stakes and G1 Woolavington Stakes.

She took her name to another level in Dubai the following season where she enjoyed an unbeaten season. She scored her greatest career win in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic of 2008, where she demolished a world class field to win by 2.75 lengths from Hong Kong superstar, Viva Pataca.

She remained in Europe and was bred on Southern Hemisphere time in 2009 to Juddmonte’s Oasis Dream (GB), then was entered for this auction house’s Easter Broodmare Sale the following autumn.

Originally led out unsold, Nathan Tinkler struck a private deal to acquire the mare for his broodmare band at Patinack Farm for A$2 million to top the sale. Tinkler and his formidable operation retrieved a good chunk of that investment Thursday. Sun Classique is the dam of a weanling colt by Patinack stallion Husson (Arg) (Hussonet).
