Met Day – Bolt And The Bubbly

Olympe - for the most vibrant celebrations

While there was plenty to celebrate during another exhilarating instalment of the Sun Met celebrated with Mumm on Saturday,  the Paddock Club ensured the party continued into the night thanks to Usain Bolt’s big champagne reveal.

The Mumm Olympe Rosé was exclusively revealed to patrons at the GH Mumm Paddock Club – which proved to be a crowd highlight. Guests got a first taste of the unique champagne which Usain Bolt, CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer) of G.H. Mumm has been creating with Maison Mumm since 2016.

The House and Bolt have worked together to create this champagne reserved for the most vibrant celebrations in the world.

The name “Olympe” evokes Bolt’s successes and his Olympic achievements. Mumm Olympe Rosé brings to life the daring spirit of the House when it comes to exploring new territories in the world of champagne with the addition of a liqueur de dosage aged in cognac barrels.

.Following the steps of P Diddy and Jay Z, Bolt is another notable name to venture into the luxury brand business. It’s an exciting time for the olympic legend as he recently announced a breakaway from all sport after turning down soccer contracts from clubs in Australia and Europe.Bolt, who is excited about his next victory, his new business venture, described his champagne as “ground breaking.”

“When we were busy planning, I asked my friends at G.H. Mumm if anyone ever tried to mix champagne and cognac. And this inspired some creative thinking,” Bolt revealed. “They really embraced the idea and we did what we had to do to make it possible. The results were amazing. This champagne is the first of its kind. Thank you to the GH Mumm for believing in me,” he added.  “I love the taste, I’m sure you’re going to love it too. Enjoy it responsibly,” he concluded.

He then officially opened the Sun Met afterparty by dancing to some local tunes with his entourage which attracted a big crowd to the main dance floor. A great touch to proceedings saw Bolt invite one the Paddock Club guests onto the main stage after being impressed by the guest’s moves in the front row.

For Bolt to embrace South African music really captured the crowd, ensuring the G.H. Mumm Paddock Club was the most sought after lounge at the 2019 Sun Met celebrated with Mumm.

The entertainment setup can be described simply as high definition; the amazing lighting and sound, big screens and live performers brought the party to life. Celebs spotted at the G.H. Mumm Paddock Club included Minnie Dlamini-Jones, Trevor Stuurman, Rich Mnisi, Shugasmakx, Siv Ngesi, Chad le Clos, Zulu Mkhathini, Moozlie and Thembisa Mdoda. With a successful launch in 2018 and another memorable event in 2019, the GH Mumm Paddock Club emphasised why it is the most memorable feature of Africa’s richest race event.
