Team Tara Four-Timer

Top yard maintains rich vein of form

It takes great courage and character to persevere in uncertain times and PE trainer Tara Laing bounced back from a tough few weeks to produce four great winners and a second from just five runners at Fairview on Friday.

The majority of the Tara Laing string are Mayfair Speculators-owned runners and after announcing that she has boxes and opening her doors a week ago to all owners, Tara says that she has enjoyed plenty of enquiries and tangible shows of support.

“People have been wonderful and it’s business as usual. I am just so pleased that we kept our heads down and our eye on the ball and will continue doing what we love doing – producing the winners! Mathew Thackeray showed his talent and ability to get all of our four winners home,” said an elated Tara.

Team Tara opened the day when the Gimmethegreenlight filly Klawerkate shed her maiden at her tenth try.

The Visionaire filly Minds Eye registered her second career win and was a popular winner of the fifth, a Novice Plate over 1900m.

The consistent Captain’s Vista made it a hat-trick for the team when he stayed on strongly to win the sixth, an MR 70 Handicap.

The well-supported Flying Rock brought the curtain down on the day when he showed plenty of pace to win the MR 72 Handicap over 1000m.

Thackeray, who was deputising for the suspended Callan Murray, notched his first ever win on 1 February 2014 at the Vaal for Errico Verdonese on Fun City. He coincidentally graduated from the same SA Jockey Academy class as Callan Murray.

Tara has now trained 33 winners this term with a healthy 18,75% win strike-rate.
