Thailand AHS – Update

'Lessons hard won'

Following recent reports of an outbreak of African Horse Sickness in Thailand, South African Equine Health and Protocols (SAEHP) Managing Director Adrian Todd has provided an update.

“Thai officials have confirmed the outbreak, but an investigation is still underway to try and ascertain the source,” he told the Sporting Post.

“We extend our sympathies to all whose horses are affected and have made ourselves available to offer technical assistance to the OIE and Thai authorities.”

“There are a series of OIE webinars starting on Friday 10 April and our team will be participating to offer advice in terms of clinical identification and the control measures we have developed and put in place here.”

“Lessons have been hard won in our own journey of learning to manage the disease and we are pleased to be able offer the benefits of our experience and the knowledge we’ve gained in the last few years to the Thai community.”
