The Art of being Smart

2012 KZN Yearling Sale Preview

KZN Yearling Sale 2012 List of the yearlings eligible for the MILLION MILE July day 2013

It’s taken a while, but rich races for graduates from sales are coming thick and fast now. The annual Ready To Run sale has set the pace, and now is joined by the KZN yearling sale (there’s more to come later in the year, in the Cape).

The added carrot for the KZN sale is that the race for its  graduates will be run at Greyville, on July day. Imagine the excitement!

The new KZN Million is for 2yo’s, over 1300m, giving a chance to those bred for speed, and those who’d want it a bit further.

With 250 yearlings catalogued, and a field of sixteen likely, the chance of picking a runner is about 16/1. With some smart picking on things like distance suitability and the female line’s propensity to throw 2yo winners, the odds should become more attractive still.

There’s a real chance for syndicates to buy more than a few, at reasonable prices, and so get in the queue for the big pay-day with at least one. There’s always hope.

Below follows a summary of the yearlings on offer, grouped by sire, with pertinent comments about some of the pedigrees. Homework starts here!

Double Your Million Chances!

View the list of 167 KZN sale yearlings also eligible for the KZN Breeders Million Mile for 3yo’s and 4yo’s – to be run on July-day, annually from 2012 onwards, over 1600m
