Sad end to a rising speed star

In sad news reaching the Sporting Post offices, it has been reported that the 2022 Gr1 Golden Horse Sprint winner Alesian Chief was humanely euthanised earlier this week after a track work incident and subsequent post operative complications.

The smart 4yo’s career tally stood at 5 wins, 4 of which were achieved with Muzi Yeni aboard from 16 starts.

He raced in all major provinces and won at the Vaal, Turffontein and Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

Alesian Chief’s last run was in the Gr1 Cape Flying Championship when beaten just over three length behind some of the best in the land. He was rated 123.

The Lensley stable made the announcement on Wednesday.

Bred by Ambiance Stud, Alesian Chief was by Vercingetorix (SAF) out of VAR mare All In The Mind (SAF) and was raced by Mr P Boonzaaier, Mr C J Lensley & Ms E L La Grange, Mr G G Palmer & Mrs D Palmer.
