Dubawi Champion For Stud

Undefeated at 2

A hairline fracture suffered by 3yo colt Too Darn Hot (Dubawi-Dar Re Me, by Singspiel) has brought a premature close to the career of last season’s Champion 2yo, reports bbc.com.

The John Gosden-trained blueblood was operated on at Newmarket Equine Hospital, with non life-threatening surgery on his right-hind cannon bone for an injury believed to have “been sustained during his Gr1 Sussex Stakes victory at Goodwood last week.”

Owned and raced by his breeders Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber of Watership Down Stud, Too Darn Hot was ridden in all his race starts by Frankie Dettori, finishing his juvenile season undefeated from four starts including the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

Placed in the Dante Stakes, Irish 2000 Guineas and the St James’s Palace Stakes in the early part of his 3yo season, the colt bounced back to his best in the recent Prix Jean Prat at Deauville before claiming the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last week.

He will make his stud debut in 2020 at Dalham Hall.
