Tote rules for the Place bet have changed with effect from 1 March.
The new rule is a follows:
* 5 runners or less – no Place betting
* 6 or 7 runners – Place payouts 1st and 2nd
* 8 to 15 runners – Place payouts 1st, 2nd and 3rd
* 16 runners or more – Place payouts 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
This affects South African racing only; for overseas meetings different rules may apply.
