The Varsfontein Stud purple patch continued at Turffontein on Sunday with the Tony Peter trained Golden Sickle going from gun to tape to run her four rivals off their feet and win the R150 000 Non black-type TAB Bauhinia Handicap at Turffontein on Sunday.

Flashing her dazzling speed from the break, Golden Sickle (33-20) made it four on the trot as she powered home under regular pilot Calvin Habib to beat the accomplished Troppo Veloce (1-1) by 2,50 lengths in a time of 57,01 secs.

Corne Spies’ Flowerbomb (14-1) stayed on into third, with Mythical Dream (14-1) completing the quartet.

A R700 000 Cape Yearling Sale purchase, the winner is a Varsfontein Stud-bred daughter of champion Vercingetorix (Silvano) out of the top-class six-time winner Victorian Secret (Captain Al).

Now a winner of 6 races with 5 places from 21 starts, Golden Sickle took her stakes earnings to R651 288.

The winner is raced by Suzette Viljoen who enjoyed a feature double at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday with Royal Aussie and Double Grand Slam.
