Vercingetorix Al RashidiyaThe outstanding Vercingetorix looks set to return to South Africa to take up stud duties after being injured in Saturday’s Gr1 Jebel Hatta at Meydan.

Mike de Kock said on Sunday: “Vercingetorix’s owner, Sheik Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum has agreed that, ideally, he should return to South Africa as a stallion. Jehan Malherbe of Form Bloodstock and I will present any proposals received to the Sheikh for consideration.”

Mike said that Vercingetorix will be returning to his yard at the Blue Racing Stables on Monday morning. “He is fine, he is already standing on his injured off-fore leg at the clinic and he’s not in pain. He’s placing weight on the leg and will make a full recovery for stud. He’ll stay on overnight and come back on Tuesday.”
