Visionaire Relative Sets Keeneland Alight

$2 150 000 for Medaglia d'Oro colt

The first foal out of SA sire Visionaire’s Gr1 winning half-sister Tara’s Tango set off fireworks at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale on Monday, when purchased by Godolphin for $2 150 000.

Bloodhorse.com report that the Medaglia d’Oro colt was consigned as #138 by Denali Stud, agent for Stonestreet Bred & Raised.

His dam was campaigned and bred by Stonestreet Stables, with top victories in the Santa Margarita Stakes (Gr1), Santa Maria Stakes (Gr2), and Rancho Bernardo Handicap (Gr3).

Tara’s Tango is a half sister to NetJets Gr1 King Bishop Stakes winner Visionaire and graded stakes winners Scarlet Strike and Madison’s Luna.

Visionaire (Grand Slam) was South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire in 2014-2015, and Leading Second Crop Sire in 2015-2016.

The Lammerskraal resident is the sire of 14 black type performers including Gr1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic winner Takingthepeace and Gr2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas winner Heaps Of Fun.
