The response to the Sporting Post Durban July People’s Pick Six Perm has already exceeded all expectations.
Last week we announced the Sporting Post readers bid to win a share of the R15 million July day Pick 6 action and the response has been inspiring, to say the least.
Co-ordinator extraordinaire and punting professor emeritus William Milkovitch has been inundated with contributions, suggestions, selections and informed input – just as we had hoped he’d be.
He provided an update on the timetable:
“Good afternoon Sporting Post Bloggers,
Going forward, I’ll send out a group e-mail early Thursday evening updating all participants about pool size, stake money not yet received & number of participants.
On Friday morning, just after 9am, I’ll send out a 2nd group e-mail showing the polling results of all your selections & the proposed perm.
I’m sure many of you have realized that it is possible that we might land up with a pooled result of Field x Field x Field x Field x Field x Field.
If that scenario comes to fruition, there is no need to be concerned as we’ll have a 6 hour window to exchange ideas via e-mail.
We might even consider a very low % perm to cover each and everyone’s selection and then a thinner second ‘wise guys’ perm to attain a 100 % ticket.
Obviously if that happens, the majority of the kitty will be spent on the 100 % perm.
Remember if 4 big bombs arrives it will be a +R 5 000 000 payout irrespective of a pool of R 14 000 000 or R 20 000 000.
So, our 2% ticket of a R 6 254 000 guessed payout, split into your pro rata share, is still better than a slap in the face or walking home from Greyville in tears.
It follows, that for example, your 1% equity of the All Inclusive perm will result in a (R 125 080 @ 1%) = R1 250.80 pay packet. At worst, you can still buy your spouse/boy-girlfriend a few Woolworths vouchers.
In addition to the proposed perm, I’ll also show the full structure of everybody’s estimated equity in our PEOPLES PERM (via private e-mail)
It is important for you to ask these sort of question via my e-mail only, otherwise we’ll unduly burden The Editor with technical stuff not related to racing news.
Now, back to today, I’m confident that we’ll have at least 50+ participants with a kitty in excess of R 40 000.
Laters and thank you All.”
