Top jockey will be out for some time

Jockey Weichong Marwing had to undergo surgery on Friday after a fall at the Vaal on Thursday in which he fractured his fibula.

Marwing was riding Cizeron in Race 1 when his mount broke down and had to be euthanased.

Marwing was taken to hospital for X-rays where it was discovered he had fractured the fibula in his leg and surgery was necessary.

The fibula  is the smaller of the long bones of the lower leg.
