Great Weekend As Godolphin Celebrate First Kentucky Derby Trophy
I'm totally amazed how 21 horses can run and finish the 2025 Kentucky Derby in water trodden dirt track with Duffs of sand in the horses and jockeys faces. That's what Champions are truly made of! Being able to overcome all the odds and in the most adverse of conditions. Well done to Godolphin Racing. A clean sweep of Oaks and

Let me summarise my previous explanations to you:
Off his current rating of 109, Garrix will receive 4 kgs from 8 on 18 and 7 kgs from See it Again. That will make him 5kgs (more than 10 lengths) and 4kgs (over 8 lengths) under sufferance with the afore mentioned horses.
It's my opinion that 3yo's rated 114 and below will not be

Piet Steyn may not be a "big" trainer in terms of horse numbers (which don't understand)but he is a true horseman and knows what best for those in his care. If he believes that the horse still needs maturing then competing the July will seriously hamper his future with unnecessary MR holes, win or lose. I would love to see Garrix in the July but will wait until next year, based on Steyn's

Here is the GARRIX dilemma. Today’s race was totally run not to suite him and still he showed hart and won. Like Champions do !! Should he win the Pocket Power on 25th ( only one day after the DN2000 – on 24th ) he will still have 6 weeks to the July. Which is more than enough time to get ready for a smash and grab. Hundreds of horses have successfully raided KZN over the years for a smash and grab. Chances are that 8on18 and SAIL THE SEAS would be rated at 125 and upwards at that stage. GARIIX will not be rated close to them on MR even if he wins the Pocket Power. He would thus be handicapped to reverse the Cape Derby form. ( NB. Also remember he had some issues that day at the gates which might also had cost him). For all the doubters I asked… what price will he be should the connections decide to enter him ? I think very low. If the connections decide to put him the July and he wins we will carry 60kg in the mayor races in CT next season, if he loses, he will also be carrying 60 kg in the mayor races. If he is as good as I believe him to be. By next years July he will be carrying close to 60kg in the July. Point is at his current rating he should have his BEST SHOT at the July. MARINARESCO ran 2nd travelling from CT to KZN for the July as 3YO. Almost the same route at GARRIX this season. The other issues might be he loses form before next year’s July or next years 3YO crop turns up some superstars which will put him under pressure at the weights at that stage.... read more
