Outstanding stallion Redoute’s Choice, sire of the new Cheveley stallion Wylie Hall, proved one of the star attractions at the recent Arqana August Yearling Sale.

Danehill’s champion son ended the two day sale as the fourth leading stallion by aggregate, with his 10 lots to sell grossing €3.665 million. Redoute’s Choice averaged an impressive €366 500 at the sale, behind only Dubawi, Frankel and Invincible Spirit.

Top lot sired by Redoute’s Choice was a colt out of Gr1 Prix Saint Alary winner Vadawina (by Unfuwain) who was sold to John Ferguson for €950 000.

Ferguson also paid €450,000 ($A670,000) for the Redoute’s Choice colt from Copernica presented by Richard Powell’s Haras du Lieu des Champs.

“Redoute’s Choice has been a superb stallion in Australia, and there’s no reason why he won’t repeat his success in the Northern Hemisphere,: Ferguson commented.

“This is a Redoute’s Choice out of a Galileo mare going back to a great family, including High Chaparral. He’s a very athletic horse and we’re delighted to have him.”

A triple champion sire in Australia, Redoute’s Choice (whose numerous high class relatives include Highlands Farm’s very popular young stallion Pathfork) has sired a stunning 66 yearlings to fetch $1 million plus. His 27 individual G1 winners including the top class sires Snitzel and Stratum, as well as such outstanding performers as SA stars Majmu and Musir, Anamato, Miss Finland, God’s Own, Samantha Miss, Nadeem, Master Of Design, and Australian Horse Of The Year Lankan Rupee.

Wylie Hall, who is set to be shown to breeders at Cheveley Stud on August 27th, was an outstanding racehorse who earned over R3.6 million in stakes.

First past the post in the 2014 G1 Vodacom Durban July, the bay also won the Gr1 President’s Champion Challenge, Gr1 SA Derby and Gr2 Colorado King. In total, Wylie Hall won or placed in nine black type races, and won from 1400 to 2450 metres.

The only son of Redoute’s Choice currently standing at stud in the Cape, Wylie Hall is a half brother to former champion sprinter Absolute Champion.
